Tengi is a new app that is free to download, and it allows users to send texts messages, emoticons, GPS location, voice messages, photo, video and audio messages. It also pops notifications when the message has delivered and read. The app in itself is easy to set up, you just need to verify your mobile no. and put on some necessary details or you can even log in using Facebook which is the easiest part over here and then you’re ready to go. You can also set up group chats with friends, family, and anyone with shared interests such as a club, society or organization.
One of its newest features allows users to add their Facebook friends on Tengi even without having their phone number. Their USP is their business model which is sharing at least half of its ad revenues with users every week in the form of cash prizes. This is an excellent idea of marketing and publicity of the app.
Rewarding users for using the app have always been in the limelight but Tengi here is taking a whole new approach to rewards, he is giving back 50%of its revenue as the price to its user every week. Take my opinion, the company really seems to be quite mad about their publicity because if you’re giving your 50% of profit to the users then what sort of profit you’ll make for the company itself. In another hand, the company should be appreciated for taking this drastic step of marketing.
Tengi is supported by an Angel investors network from the UK, China, South Africa and the United States.
“We recognize that our users are central to our success, and we wanted to share the value that they bring to our business.” Neil Laycock, Tengi CEO.
Well here’s how the reward system works, users get tickets by using the app and also when their friends join Tengi, so the more users chat with friends on Tengi, the more tickets they gather. Finally, all the tickets a user has gained are entered into a weekly draw which takes place on, every Friday. Winners are then chosen at random, and the prizes range from INR 10, 00,000 to INR 450 are distributed to them. So the more tickets a user gets during the week, the more chances he/she will have to win in the prize draw.
Tengi can be downloaded for iOS and Android via the app stores:
