Xiaomi is here with their first smart home product in India. The Mi Air purifier 2, which is priced at 9,999 INR. Now, lots of people are talking about it, obviously because it’s a new tech. Whenever a manufacture announces a new diverse tech in the market, people mostly ask why? Why do we need this? What will it do? And most importantly are they willing to risk their money on a tech which they have no idea whatsoever.
Why we don’t need an Air Purifier?
You might be wondering like, Air purifier seriously. And you should say that because you’re sitting in your comfort zone with the air conditioning turned on, you don’t need an Air purifier, you don’t even have medical conditions like asthma. You’re breathing that blossomy air straight from the freshness of those mighty green trees. The perfect utopia that you have created in the city of millions of people, your home; the safest place. As long as you’re living under this environment you’re safe, but Is it? is everything safe? Are you really living a health life? You better start asking these questions if you want your next generation to live. But will they?
Why you need to buy an Air Purifier?
According to the World Health Organization, 22 of the world’s 50 most polluted cities are in India. Which is the aftermath of significantly increasing industrial area and vehicles. The most polluted city in India is Delhi. Now, AQI (Air quality index) score which is used to measure the pollution level in the environment by the govt. has recorded more than 300 AQI in some heavy traffic area of Delhi. Mi air purifier 2 is a very smart device, which only take power up to 4.5W. it seamlessly connects to the cloud via Wi-Fi. You can enable its features via the Mi Home app, that is specifically design for this kind of smart home products. The Mi home app is available for both android and iOS. The app is also integrated with Mi ecosystem and other third-party devices. The “Mi Ecosystem” sub-brand covers a range of products manufactured by Xiaomi’s ecosystem partners.
The home app enables you to control the Mi air purifier. In Auto mode, the speed of the air purifier’s motor is automatically adjusted. The air quality is measured using built-in sensors. So that the users should never have to worry about settings for clean air. The Mi Home app also monitors the filter’s lifespan and sends a reminder when it needs to be replaced.
The Mi Air Purifier 2 rapidly removes PM2.5 particles, dust, indoor plant pollen, pet fur and more. It has a high 310m3/h CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate). Mi Air Purifier 2 takes just 10 minutes to circulate purified air in a 21m2 room. The motor is extremely energy efficient with a low power consumption of 4.8W. The advanced aerodynamics reduce noise and wind resistance, which can decrease the noise as low as 30dB in Night mode.
The Mi Air Purifier is packed with a 360° cylindrical filter which takes in air more efficiently from every direction. Its triple-layer design removes particles larger than 0.3 microns with a high-density EPA filter. The other activated carbon filter removes formaldehyde, bad odour and other harmful substances. The replacement filter is available online at 2,499 INR.
To increase the awareness about air pollution, Xiaomi has now become the first smartphone brand in India to integrate Air Quality Index (AQI) data in their smartphone, which also reflects the measurement of PM2.5 particles in the air, into its MIUI 8 Weather app.
