Flipkart, India’s e-commerce giant, announced its three -year partnership with Taiwanese smartphone maker ASUS, under that agreement Flipkart will now be a premium seller for the latter’s smartphones. This tie-up will also define a roadmap for the launch of future ASUS Zenfone smartphones in India. Both the companies have signed a MoU that will make Flipkart the exclusive online seller for all the forthcoming Asus phones. Another announcement made by Flipkart is that the Zenfone Max Pro will be launched in India on April 23 and will exclusively be sold online.
The new Asus Zenfone Max Pro will be a mid-range smartphone that will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, a processor that made its debut with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Interestingly, even Xiaomi also considered launching the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India as a global release. Besides this, remaining features and specifications of the smartphone are not known as for now. The Zenfone Max Pro will go on sale starting April 23rd at 12:30 PM IST.
ASUS and Flipkart announced a long-term strategic partnership that will make Flipkart become an ASUS premier partner and sellers for smartphones. They will start with the models that have been specially designed to address the Indian market needs. Flipkart will be the primary sales channel for ASUS Zenfone. In addition to the partnership with Flipkart, ASUS also announced support for digitizing India and aiding the digital education of the needy in Indian society through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
During its “Big On Flipkart” campaign, Flipkart made two big announcements; three-year partnership with ASUS and launching of Zenfone Max Pro in India which comes as a surprise for the mobile phone market. ASUS is a trusted brand worldwide but it has to come a long way to compete with other brands like Xiaomi and Huawei who have already set their foot in India. Although the news is great it doesn’t level up to the hype created by social media.
