Every new year we have a new technology in town. The way tech industry is rapidly evolving is unprecedented. The preliminary reason behind these kinds of development is not product quality; it’s the demand. People now have expectations with these tech giants, and that expectation impacts the industries. Isn’t it clear, there is a tough competition out there, and the one who full fills all the promises and satisfies its customer triumphs.

A similar kind of development has seen in the smartphone industries and in their cameras. I mean, you have to admit every new smartphone has a new revamped camera, and the tech industries are constantly pushing it towards the edge. Making it better and better and ultimately creating a more competitive competition. So at the apex, which one is actually the best smartphone camera? Lets’ see.

Google Pixel 2:

So far the pixel 2 features a 12.2 MP rear camera, with an awesome f/1.8 aperture. It also has an OIS and EIS for stability. The secondary camera is an 8-megapixel shooter with a f/2.4 aperture, which is quite odd for a front camera because normally that kind of aperture is best for wide angle shot, for example, a scene and the fun fact is you’re not going to click a landscape with your front camera.

Well, to back up all these images Google has been kind to provide a very large sensor, it’s still not the largest smartphone camera sensor but it’s good, comparatively for a smartphone. It has the conventional six lens concept but what makes it different than other cameras, is the machine learning. Which basically means that the camera has some advance feature.

The pixel’s camera actually captures two red and blue images, sensing the size, depth and distance. At the end, there is a huge process of computation photography which includes white balance, ISO and much more. The machine learning plays a very strong role in the computation photography, and Google has been very innovative in that area. The new portrait mode is a combination of depth mapping and machine learning, which is the most advanced smartphone camera feature so far.For Check Camera Samples click here.

Apple iPhone 8 Plus:

The iPhone 8 plus packs a dual camera, featuring two 12-megapixel lenses. One is a wide angle lens and the other one is a 12 MP telephoto lens, which is basically meant for zooming in on objects and for some special effects like portrait mode. The main lens has a BSI sensor featuring an awesome f/1.8 aperture for best portrait photography. The telephoto lens has a f/2.8 aperture lens, obviously for landscape and extra feature.

The iPhone 8 Plus performs much better than other iPhone, it shows much light and sharpness in the images. The device clicks some of the best HDR photos so far. When talking about colour, the device lacks a little bit, when it’s about green, and since green is an attractive colour for our eyes, it kind of feels odd.

So far the dedicated telephoto lens has an advantage over all these cameras, which gives a surprising performance when you click a bokeh picture. The depth of field is just awesome and you’ll love portrait from your iPhone 8 plus. The iPhone only has an OIS sensor so, if you click a moving picture it’s not that bad but it’s also not the very best. For Check Camera Samples click here.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8:

The Galaxy Note 8 features a dual camera concept, featuring two 12 Megapixel lenses. The primary lens has a f/1.7 aperture while the second lens is a telephoto lens featuring f/2.4 aperture and a 2x optical zoom, for more vivid shots. The device has PDAF autofocus, OIS it also has some of the best smartphone camera sensors in the market.

Well, there is no doubt that the Samsung galaxy note 8 has the most optimize photographic experience; at least from a smartphone perspective. It has a very good noise reduction, white balance and colour rendering. The autofocus of the smartphone is the best autofocus in the market; it’s is remarkably fast.

Well, the dynamic range is a little bit limited in comparison to another high end HDR enabled smartphones but it’s good. The detailing in low light is pretty good but it’s certainly not the best. Although, in indoor lights, the camera performance is exceptionally good. The bokeh effect of the smartphone is really-really good, which gives amazing background blur effect. For Check Camera Samples click here.

Verdict:

So far, the Google Pixel 2 is the best smartphone camera right now. It has an incredible 98 DXOmark rating, which is unprecedented. The best part about the Pixel 2 is the machine learning and the depth mapping algo, which makes the camera most advanced smartphone camera on the market. The iPhone, on the other hand, has a 94 DXOmark rating, which is good and it delivers a very amazing performance in all the section. The Galaxy Note 8 also has the 94 DXOmark rating which is amazing, if we compare the smartphone on price brackets.
