How to Stay Safe from Cyber-criminals in this Digital World

Water is a vital part of life. The human body is capable of surviving without food for weeks. But without water, even surviving 127 hours is unbearable. We use it to drink, cook, bathe, wash, and what not using water. Well, the purpose of starting the discussion with water was to move your attention to a rather serious issue that is the use of Internet. It might not be wrong to say that we are living in a global setup where the Internet has taken the form of water. Our jobs, social life, personal life, communications or in simple words our whole life revolves around it in one way or the other. The Internet has definitely brought a positive change in our lives but it has also given birth to a lot of serious issues. Some of which include data theft, misuse of personal information, identity theft and much more. Thanks to the internet, our lives are like an open book anyone can read.

We can’t obviously stop using the Internet as it has become an essential part of our lives but we can definitely take a few measures to make sure our private information remains private. So, if you use the internet too often then make it your habit to follow the tips given below as it is your privacy and safety at stake.

Do Not Reuse Passwords

Do not, I repeat DO NOT reuse passwords. If the password to your cloud is same as that of your email account, then you might have unwillingly given the hacker access to your financial accounts, as well as the ability to reset all of your passwords. To avoid situations like this one should always use different passwords for all of their online accounts. It may sound like a very tedious task, but it will certainly help keep you safe. Also, don’t use the same password for too long.

Avoid Storing Sensitive Information Online

Words like “privacy” and “private” no longer apply to any information that you choose to share on the internet. Thus, storing your important files on the cloud or anywhere else on the net might not be a good idea. With that being said, storing sensitive data on the cloud for a long period of time is a big no-no. My advice would be to store those files online that you need to access frequently and avoid putting files with data like credit card number, home address, passwords, etc. online.

Encrypting data is one of the best ways to protect data that is stored online. And it is simple too. All you have to do is use any software to encrypt the file i.e. create a password for that file and move that password protected file to your online cloud storage. This way anyone invading your account will not be able to access said files without knowing the password.

“Zero-Knowledge” Privacy

A few cloud services also offer local encryption and decryption of your files, along with the regular options. This way no one would have access to your files other than you, including the server administrators and service providers. This “zero-knowledge” privacy is able to cloud services like Spideroak and Wuala.

Prevent Automatic Media Upload

Cloud services like iCloud and Dropbox usually ask the users if they want all their pictures and videos to be uploaded to cloud automatically. In theory, this looks like a good way to back up all of your memories but sometimes the data that was meant for your eyes only gets uploaded as well. This can put a serious damper on your personal privacy as anyone can look into your private and intimate data online.

Backup Your Media Offline

While cloud provides the perfect platform to backup all of your data, backing up your data that is important to you locally might be a good idea as well. This way if you lose your phone, the cloud server crashes down or if someone hacks onto your account and deletes all of your data, your data would not be truly lost.

Asus ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) Review – More like a Powerbank

Previously this year in August, Asus comes up its new line-up of zenfone 3. It was launched among some of the best premium looking devices with high end price. Now, they are up with new line of their budget device zenfone Max and landed with Zenfone 3 Max. The Max gets its name because of its huge battery of 5,000mAh battery whereas this new ZenFone 3 Max packs in with a smaller 4,100mAh power. The ZenFone Max has conducted as a budget smartphone a price of Rs 9,999.

But, this time we have two different variants of  ZenFone 3 Max which is available. The 5.2″ variant is coming up with a MediaTek chip and will cost you Rs 13,999. The other one is a 5.5″ variant which comes up with a Snapdragon 430 and will cost you Rs 17,999. There are some other minor changes which are there in these model, and we will talk about it in another post.

Internal Storage32GB

Dual LED flash
Front Camera8MP, f/2.2
Dimensions151.4 x 76.2 x 8.3 mm
Weight175 g

So, here starting with the 5.5″ Variant:

Design & Built

Now starting with the Design and built of Zenfone 3 Max, this times the phone houses in Full Metal Chassis and no plastic and leather feel. The design is something which is being unique to Asus. This is the identical design which they have used in Zenfone 3 laser which is again there new line up. Zenfone 3 Max added a round curved to its edges which adds a proper grip while holding it in hand. At Least the build quality is better than the cheap, plasticky feel which we get in original ZenFone Max.

3D View is coming soon here

The successor of Zenfone 3 max, has made a whole lot of changes in its latest release. This they have added a 2.5D curved glass on top of 5.5″ FHD Display panel which adds extra protection as well as looks to the phone.

On the Top portion of the phone, you will get a 3.5mm audio jack and a secondary MIC over there.

Turning around to the down portion, it houses single Speaker grill a primary mic and normal micro USB port which supports fast charging.

Coming to the left side of the phone you will get a supports Dual Sim at the same time or single sim + Micro SD card up to 256 GB which make it a hybrid SIM tray.

Turning around to the other side of the phone you will get volume rockers and below that power lock key which give quite good tactile feel and also has a particular design feels on it.

At the back panel of the phone you will get a 16MP camera beside it Dual Tone LED Flash and Laser autofocus sensor, below that it houses a FingerPrint sensor which works perfectly even with 360 Degree Recognition. Just put your finger on it and in 0.3 ns or may be less it will unlock the device.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max comes with a 5.5-inch FHD with a resolution of 1920×1080 and pixel density of 403 ppi. The Display colors are very cool, and has proper dark which means while watching movies and playing games will look way better. The Sunlight legibility this time has also increased because of better brightness level. The High brightness level does not affect the color quality of the display. Overall the screen for movies and games and for daily use is great.

Coming to the viewing Angle, they are good enough and you won’t be getting any chance to complain about it. While watching movies from odd angle won’t affect you in any way. There are different color modes, which you can change as per your usage by going into the setting panel.

The phone comes with Snapdragon 430 Helio Octa-core processor which is clocked at 1.4 GHz which features a 3GB Ram. This combo makes this device high in this price. Out of 32 GB of internal storage you get about 25 GB free, you can expand it to up-to 256GB because the phone support Hybrid SIM tray.

Snapdragon handles are device quite well. As well already know asus has optimized there ZenUI to give maximum battery power, and as this device is from MAX series battery backup is quite well. On heavy and aggressive usage you can easily last for more than a day and if you are having a normal use the battery will easily last you for more than 2 days.

Different Benchmark score for this device seems to be quite low:

Geekbench3063 Multi- Core

But overall when we play high end games like GTA, Riptide, Nova 3, Assassin Creed they all work fine no frame drops or lag is there. In my test i have played all the above mention games on continuous basis there is no battery drain, no heat up and no lag. May be this is all because of software optimization. Oveall in daily use i have no issue regarding the performance part of the phone.

So, this time Asus Zenfone 3 Max comes up with 16 MP rear Camera which is really improved from the previous max Device. This time they has better camera application with manual controls which are great. The focus and bokeh effect us quite good but i don’t know why while taking images there some noise in every image, it may be due to some software tweak if we edit it a little bit you won’t find any issue in images. from past couple of days the images which i am being posting on my social media are taken directly by Zenfone 3 max and i have no complaints to it. They only need to consider why there is noise in every image. One more thing i wanna mention is that sometime camera won’t focus in certain objects, so to make them focus either you need to change to manual controls or close the camera app and open it again and then it will work fine. Again a software issue is there which stop the laser focus to properly focus on the object. Rest from the time asus has improved a lot with their sensor and much better bokeh effect while focusing from rear camera. The camera can take video shots top upto Full HD and no 4k recording is there untill and unless you install a third party software to make it work.

Coming to the front facing camera of zenfone 3 max, it comes with 8MP shooter with built in feature of beauty mode. images taken using it come out decent but again some noise if we turn off beauty mode. Coming to the video quality taken from front facing cam it can capture up to Full HD video, which seems to be good compare to there older models. But again when we come to front facing cam there are many other options also which are way better from it.

Camera Samples

I never like the ZenUI which they came up. This time they have Android 6.0 and top of it again ZenUI skin which is very laggy and buggy, only the best part of this UI is best battery optimization, rest on multitasking and almost everywhere is seems to be sluggish and laggy. Even if you install a side launcher it seems to be little bit better. My suggestion for asus will be to change the ZenUI to stock android to get better performance and better multitasking even with any low end hardware specs, or they should work harder like Xiaomi to get the best SKIN for android till now which is MIUI 8. The lag and slugginess is not due to hardware, it is due to software. This lag starts when you start installing many different software and start doing multitasking intensively. If you are a normal user like normal parents in house, they wont be complaining anything about it. They will only say one thing battery life is awesome no charge for more than 2 days.

Like the previous device from Asus, Zenfone Max it has slightly low battery but still it give its best in it. Due to Software optimization the battery life is really good. It comes up with 4100mAh battery which is similar to other Xiaomi devices but this is way better in each aspect. Standby time is incredible, rest playing games, movies aggressive chats it will last you more than a day easily. If you are having a normal use like normal games, normal chat, high talks it will easily last you more than 2 days. The just love the battery life of this phone. The only drawback is even having fast charging it charges very slow. 0% to 60% in about 2 hours.

After using the device for couple of days i don’t know why Asus has fixed the price so high which is Rs. 17,999, but that UI and no Volte update till now ruined it. They are promising to shoot a update soon which will make volte support to all there 4G supported phones. Overall if we consider the device as per the looks, battery and offline availability its a thumbs up, else for better UI and better performance there are other devices also with low budget and same metal built.

Companies That Secure Internet of Things

IoT (Internet of Things) consists of connected gadgets, smart appliances like refrigerator, AC, etc. wearables, and other internet-connected gadgets and it is the next big thing in the digital world.

As more and more internet-connected smart devices are finding their ways into our residences and businesses, it is essential to understand that they also signify a security threat. Internet of Things (IoT) is evolving swiftly, and in a hurry for ease and comfortability, our security and safety are always an afterthought.

According to Gartner, there are nearly 5.5 million new things that are getting connected every day in this year 2016. That indeed is a huge number. Such things might bring all kinds of handy new features, it is good if it is the latest cutting-edge technology but what if it is a threat that could destroy your business?

Here are a few tips for businesses to secure Internet of Things :

An Integrated Duo of Business Executives & Security Experts

The duo of product managers and security experts will ensure the protection is a key consideration while building core features and functionalities. An integrated team will let for higher collaboration and make sure that the business and security are rightly balanced and any vulnerabilities can be recognized a bit early in the product life-cycle.

A Separate Network

Wi-Fi routers at times create security and privacy problems because a few routers support guest networking. But this shouldn’t be a concern for you as you can create a separate network so that visitors can connect to your Wi-Fi network without getting access to shared documents or networked devices.

Track Every Device

In order to be secured, businesses need to track every little device that is or can be connected to the network and assess the inflow & outflow traffic. Devices should be monitored to understand the level of access it is supposed to have, to keep them up-to-date, and secure the data end-to-end conserve its integrity. Keeping a tab on which devices are connected and what data they have are essential elements for a proper security.

When you think about privacy and security, you would probably think that firewalls, anti-virus software do all the required work to keep you and your data protected. But, as you use your mobile phones or tablets, you definitely would be more concerned than when you use a smart thermostat or TV. The fact is that all these smart devices are/can be connected to the internet and hence they all are likely at risk by eavesdroppers.

This kind of weak protection system should boost the market for exclusive IoT security solutions, that could be a benefit for businesses like Symantec and Cisco in the future.

Symantec is known as the inventor of Norton Antivirus. It sells security and protection products for systems, data centers, and emails. Because of the increasing IoT security issues, on one hand, Symantec is helping IoT device creators develop more secure IoT devices. It advises businesses to implement device authentication through Secure Socket Layer (SSL Certificate), endpoint protection, inbuilt analytic, etc.

And on the other hand, Symantec utilizes eight new “Roots of Trust” like SSL authorization optimized to secure IoT devices. Such roots authenticate devices and allow them to communicate with other trusted devices by preventing access from unsecured or untrusted devices.

Being one among the peak networking equipment companies, Cisco is a well-known business in the industry and its security business also plays a crucial role in preventing attacks against its customers. Cisco’s security solutions mainly include advanced malware protection, cloud-based threat analysis, incident response systems, etc.

By buying SouceFire and ThreatGrid scant years ago, Cisco formed the base of its next generation threat prevention and firewall business. It further strengthened the business through additional purchases such as CloudLock, OpenDNS, and Lancope. Cisco provides compelling security products that handle both conventional cyber attacks and current IoT-based ones.

The Growing Need for Online Shopping Carts for Small Businesses

The growth of the internet has made it the perfect place for people just like you to create an online business. Instead of creating just a local store where you’re limited to local traffic, a website can reach thousands of people all over the world. However, there’s one aspect of e-commerce websites that many webmasters don’t pay much attention to: online shopping cart software. Your online shopping cart is more than just an easy way for your customers to check out thanks to advances in technology. Here are a few reasons why all websites, big or small, should be using online shopping carts.

Social Media Integration

If you’re selling products that you’re proud of, you want your customers to share it with their friends and family. This is easy to do with shopping carts thanks to social media integration. If you’ve ever been checking out and noticed social media buttons that say “share your purchase” or something similar, then you’ve already experienced social media integration. The goal of these buttons is to allow customers to quickly share favorite products that they purchase with the people on their social media profiles. This is free advertising for you and fun for your customers.

Discounts and Coupons

The internet is full of millions of online stores. Your goal is to make your site stick out among the rest. This can be challenging to do, but one simple approach is to offer discounts. Although figuring out how to accept and offer discounts online is no easy feat, online shopping cart providers have worked in the ability to accept promo codes and discounts during checkout.

Keep Up With Sales

Many online shopping carts no longer just handle making sales. They also help you keep up with sales. Some online shopping carts are embedded with shipment tracking technology. At a glance, you can quickly see what your most popular items are, how many you have left and how many you’ve sold over a given timeline. It used to take multiple software programs to give you all of this information, but now you can get it all from just one online shopping cart.

Digital and Physical Goods

Shopping carts are no longer limited to selling physical goods. They also allow you to sell digital goods and services such as music, movies, software and more. Since shopping carts are automatic, your customers can gain access to newly purchased goods as soon as they’re done checking out.

An online shopping cart is a great way to make the most out of your website. It allows users to browse your site and check out with more than one item. It also gives you the ability to accept coupons and expand your business through social media integration. No matter how big or small your website is, you need an online shopping cart.

Lenovo K6 Power VS Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime Comparison : Which one is Best?

There is not an even a single week which is being left over when we don’t hear about any new phone which is being launched in the market. Today we have two different brands with two different phones, which are going to give a huge competition in Indian as well as global market.

Lenovo and Xiaomi, both are the top notch brands globally as well as in China. From past few years both the brands are working like hell to capture the maximum market by launching their best products in best price. Due to which a few weeks back Xiaomi has launched its budget device Redmi 3s prime which is one of the best-selling devices in that price, and now Lenovo has also launched its latest budget oriented phone K6 power which is surely going to give a huge competition to Xiaomi.

So, let see which one is better and what are all pros and cons for both the phones:

Build Quality and Design

Now, as I have already mentioned both the phones are under Budget segment and we should not underestimate aspect more. But what these phones are giving in this price is really great. Built Quality of both the devices are good, both the phones are made up of full metal built and symmetric Design which we see on every phone these days.

As we come to the right side of both the devices, they both has power lock key as well as volume control buttons with a good metallic finish on it. These buttons provide proper tactile feel while you press them continuously. There is no patterned feel on buttons, on any of the devices.

Coming to the down portion of the screen you will get back capacitive keys which do not light up.

At the bottom of both the devices , Redmi 3s Prime comes with a normal Micro USB charging port, primary mi, and 3.5mm Audio Jack, whereas Lenovo K6 Power has only primary Mic over there and nothing else.

On left side of both the phones are having hybrid tray in which you can add 2 sims or 1 sim + Sd card up to 256GB Storage, which means you are never going to run out of memory in any of the phones.

Now coming to the top portion of the phone, on Lenovo K6 Power you will get a 3.5mm Audio jack and a Normal Micro USB Port which sits beside it, whereas on Redmi 3s Prime you also get an IR blaster which an advantage to redmi 3s over here.

Coming to the back side of the phone both has the same 13 MP back camera with single tone Led flash and a finger print sensor which is also almost of the same kind. They both also has the speaker at there back and here we have a great difference K6 power is having a dual Stereo Dolby Atmos speaker whereas Redmi 3s Prime has a normal single speaker which makes K6 power win over here.

Now, here is a lot of difference between both the phones. Lenovo k6 Power is having a 5″ FHD display which gives 1980×1080 Resolution whereas on Redmi 3s prime you only get 5″ HD Display which give 1280×720 resolution. There is one more huge difference in Display which again gives the advantage to Lenovo K6 Power. Pixel Density of K6 power is 441ppi whereas pixel density for Redmi 3s Prime is 294ppi. This means when you will use VR headset to watch movies or play games K6 power will give you much better clarity and resolution with no pixelation. And from past Lenovo always promote there device for Vr capability and theater Max technology.

Performance & Speed Test

Now, coming to the performance part both the devices have the same hardware in it. Snapdragon 430 CPU, Adreno 505 GPU and everything is same. Both the phones come up with 3GB/32GB model.

The only point which we can consider in performance is the software which they have used because as per my experience MIUI is much stable compare to Lenovo own custom Skin. This is Lenovo has worked a lot on its UI. They have tried to add almost all the features which MIUI 8 offer like Dual system, and dual Apps.

Rest I have not tested Lenovo much so won’t comment much about its performance.

Now coming to the camera part of both the phones, the rear camera of both the phones are same which is 13MP shooter and captures almost same kind of images, some of the shots are better on k6 Power whereas some of the same shots are better on Redmi 3s. The neglected difference is there which is hard to found easily.

Coming to the front facing camera, K6 power is having an 8MP camera whereas Redmi 3s prime has a 5MP shooter. Bot capture decent images but I think K6 power has an edge over here. It is not because of its increase in Megapixels but because it captures more details with less noise compared to Redmi 3s prime.

The main focus of Lenovo k6 power is its battery, the company adds up 4000mAh battery which is little bit low compare to Redmi 3s Prime as it comes with 4100mAh. But still, it is mostly highlighted because lenovo has added a new software tweak which they are saying as the ultimate power saving mode in which your phones becomes like a featured phone with all things black and white like we see in samsung Devices earlier. Due to this tweak they can give you the maximum power. This tweak only makes the edge for K6 power in the competition with Redmi 3s Prime.

As per my views Both the devices are great in its prices. But here are few point which we need to consider like first Price.

  1. Redmi 3S prime is available for 9,000 whereas k6 Power is for 9,999 which Rs. 1000 higher.
  2. Availability of Redmi 3s prime is not easy because of flash sales, but k6 power will be easily available any time.
  3. K6 power has much better screen quality compare to redmi 3s Prime.
  4. k6 power has a stereo speaker which is way better from Redmi 3s Prime.
  5. K6 power has a better front facing the camera as well as better battery life because of its ultimate power saving mode.
  6. Redmi 3s prime has an IR blaster which is an advantage to the phone.
  7. Redmi 3s is having better Stable UI compare to which Lenovo offers.

Rest now it’s your choice which one to buy, what is your budget would you like spend 1000 bucks more or not. What is your usage and demand? Just choose one of them and let us know, why?
