Samsung unveils 2018 TV Range in India

Samsung previously had 10 models in its UHD series and 6 models in its QLED range. This South Korean mammoth recently launched its new TV range where there are now 16 models in UHD and 8 models in its QLED lineup along with Make for India ‘Concert’ TV series. The UHD range in India now starts from Rs. 64,900 and the QLED start from Rs. 2,45,000. Both these lineups are featured with Samsung’s One Remote which has S-Voice built-in.

Samsung aims to take hold of more than 50% of premium TV segment in India. Piyush Kunnapallil, General Manager, TV Business, Samsung India, told IANS, “We are currently dominating the QLED TV segment in the country with 47 per cent share. We are looking to increase our share in this segment to 55 per cent by the end of September-October.” The company is also eyeing to take 45% of UHD market. Piyush Kunnapallil further said, “Consumers in India are moving to bigger and better televisions. We intend to fuel this trend by increasing our UHD line-up by 60 per cent and launching new products with innovative features.”

Considering the start of FIFA World Cup, 2018, Samsung will also be giving free Galaxy S9 smartphones with its new QLED TV range till July 15. The company is also offering many gifts on purchase of some select models. The company is also giving 10 years warranty against Screen Burn-in with its QLED lineup.

The most premium of Samsung’s 2018 TV lineup is the QLED series which comes with an ‘Ambient Mode’ which allows the display to act as a canvas. It can reproduce the pattern of the wall behind the TV by taking a photo of the wall using SmartThings application by Samsung. It can mirror a smartphone’s screen connect to other IoT devices. Users have the freedom to customize the TV screen with information such as weather, artworks and even their own photos. The QLED range also uses ‘Invisible Connection’ which is an almost invisible glass fibre cable that can transmit both data and power.

The Concert series is part of Make in India project and comes in two variations – ‘Smart Concert’ and ‘Joy Concert’. The Concert range aims at those users who are looking for loud volume and cinematic sound capability to enjoy movies, music and sports. This range comes with new sound technology and four speakers with 10W output each to provide a full 40W amazing surround-sound experience. These are available in 32, 43 and 49-inch models starting at Rs. 27,500.

The UHD series include the 7100, 7470, 8000 series and The Frame. Each TV has slim matte body design is packed with Samsung’s Dynamic Crystal Color technology along with HDR (High Dynamic Range). The UHD series comes with One Remote, Smart Hub and Smart Convergence that allows two-way audio streaming. These TV’s can also connect to many IoT devices using the SmartThings application.
