Expanding its “Y” series, the Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched “Y53i” smartphone on Monday. Vivo has used “Made in India” branding with the latest launch. The new smartphone is packing features like Face Access, Ultra HD technology and an eye protection mode. The Vivo Y53i is a budgeted phone priced at Rs. 7,990. The smartphone comes in two colour variants of crown gold and matte black.

Vivo Y53i features a 12.7-cm HD IPS display and is powered by 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB onboard storage that is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. The dual-SIM Vivo Y53i runs FunTouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Talking about the camera, it has an 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing the camera. This device also has a Screen Flash feature that claims to provide detailed selfies even in low-light conditions. The company said,”The device’s Ultra HD technology shoots several consecutive images and combines them to render clear and detailed photos with a resolution up to 32-megapixels.” The Eye protection mode filters out blue light to prevent eye strain during long usage while the smartphone also has the App Clone feature by which applications can be replicated to accept two separate accounts to provide multitasking. The highlight of the Vivo Y53i is the Face Access that essentially provides facial recognition and helps unlock the phone.

The handset is backed by a 2500mAh battery. Considering the identical hardware of the Vivo Y53, the Vivo Y53i has 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port.

Vivo Y53i will compete with Xiaomi Redmi 5, which has proved to be quite popular in India. It starts at Rs 7,990 and goes up to Rs. 10,999. The highlight of the phone remains the 18:9 display and snappy performance. This smartphone will be available across all offline stores in the country.
