WhatsApp Beta for android features fingerprint lock

WhatsApp Beta tester has recently launched a new feature of fingerprint unlock for all the Beta tester user. The new feature is spotted on v2.19.221 (Beta) and is compatible with Android Marshmallow and above. The smartphone must also have a fingerprint reader to take advantage of this feature.

How to activate the lock?

  1. Go to the WhatsApp’s privacy Settings
  2. Select the option of Fingerprint Unlock
  3. Enable the feature
  4. Verify your fingerprint to unlock and use the WhatsApp application

WhatsApp Beta for android features fingerprint lock Though the application will be unlocked using your fingerprint now, you can still choose to preview messages, reply, and answer calls from the notification shade, if you turn on the option which says – “Show Content in notifications”.

With the fingerprint lock activated, the widget content will also be hidden.  With the new update of WhatsApp, you will not only get the chance to unlock your app though fingerprint, but you also get the chance to choose how quickly the app should auto-lock itself. The various durations given are:

  1. Immediately
  2. After 1 minute
  3. After 30 minutes.

Currently, this feature is only available for beta tester user and rest all WhatsApp users can avail this user once it is stably released. The WhatsApp feature list will also include an Instagram-like Boomerang feature, dark mode and many more.
