The Chinese giant, Xiaomi has introduced the latest technology Mirror for the car owners which implies that the mirror will be more than just a mirror. The Mi Smart Rearview Mirror Recorder, defining its name, is a new mirror with video recording function. This rearview mirror is made by the Xiaomi ecological chain company named the Shanghai New Digital Technology Cl., Ltd.

The Xiaomi Mi Rearview Mirror Driving Recorder is a product designed for car owners. It is essentially a smart rear view mirror that will assist drivers in parking or keeping a track of who is behind their car on the highway while offering other features such as tracking. Smart Mirror comes with a New flagship intelligent voice interaction, ADAS driver support, 8.88-inch large screen, 4G all Netcom network coupled with a 5-inch IPS display with 1920 × 480 HD resolution featuring 16.7 million colours with 7 layers of the optical coating silver mirror, balanced reflectivity and transmittance. Xiaomi notes that users will have to use a microSD card between 16GB to 64GB inbuilt storage.

Users can give voice commands to the device for taking photos, starting video recording, and waking up or shutting off the screen. The camera will automatically save the video in event of an emergency brake or collision and Xiaomi claims that drivers can use this feature for reduced safety incidents while driving. Initially, the device will not have a reversing camera but interested buyers can buy 70 Steps HD Reversing Video Camera separately and pair with it. It will be available for CNY 99 (roughly Rs. 1,000).70 Steps HD Reversing Video Camera that is sold separately comes with a 138-degree field of view and is IPX7 waterproof. The video will be recorded at 720p.

Xiaomi has included a Sony IMX323 image sensor with a f/1.8 aperture for better photos and videos at low light. The company has also worked to ensure that there is lower reflection or distortion in the image that the camera captures. The device is powered by a 470mAh battery and it is charged using any standard car charging port. The price of Xiaomi Mi Rearview Mirror Driving Recorder will be CNY 399 (roughly Rs. 4,200).
