WhatsApp, the well-known and one of the most popular instant messenger will stop working from January 1, 2018, on few devices. WhatsApp announced this information through its blogging platform. It said in a statement – “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use”. Keeping this in mind, this popular messenger which is currently used by over a million users decided to stop working on phones which work on a Blackberry operating system or Blackberry 10. It will also cease to work in those smartphones which have Windows 8.0 or any other older Microsoft operating system.
WhatsApp came into play in 2009 and was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for $19 billion. It has one billion daily users and this decision was made in response to keep its security and compatibility up to date.
