A relatively newer method in the history of food safety and standard control is metal detectors. Becoming increasingly popular in comparison to X-ray processes, metal detectors in the food industry make for efficient, highly effective, and more economical machinery. If your company has been thinking about switching over, here’s why brands in the food and packaging industries should invest into metal detection.
How do Metal Detection Systems in the Food and Packaging Industry Work?
The technology used in metal detectors is primarily the same, meaning that all general purpose non-ferrous metal detectors work in pretty much the exact same way. Three coils are wound exactly parallel to a non-metallic frame, with the center coil connecting to a high-frequency radio transmitter. Two transmission-receiving coils sit on either side of the center coil, and due to the fact that the outer coils are the same distance from the center, they receive the same signal and produce a balanced and identical output voltage.
Once a metal piece passes through the system, the high-frequency field is disturbed beneath one coil, which changes the voltage and interrupts the balance. The system is then alerted that there is the presence of metal, which activates the rejection mechanism. In best case scenarios, the metal is removed at 100% while keeping the product intact.
Why Should a Brand Within the Food and Packaging Industry Invest into Metal Detection?
Given the unpredictability of renegade metal particles that can wind up in your pre-packaged food, metal detectors for the frozen food industry are a smart investment. As a way of helping you protect your brand, avoid lawsuits, and establish a reputation for high quality and unfailing standards, metal detection systems are your best bet. A single case of metal or foreign particles in your food items is enough to severely damage your reputation, thus investing in a relatively inexpensive method of food control not only protects your customers, but it protects your company as well.
Early detection of metal contaminants leads to significant cost savings in the long run. As lower value contaminated materials are rejected, you won’t be disposing of finished products that are found as contaminated later in the process. Catching the problem early saves on resources, materials, and time.
These days, developing and maintaining verifiable inspection programs and regulations is not even optional. Investing in a system that is comparatively inexpensive, highly effective and has good technical performance will do wonders for your brand, and will ensure you’re complying with legal regulations.
How to Select the Right Metal Detection Equipment?
Determining what equipment is best for you and for your company is best understood by answering these questions. First, start by evaluating your inspection area. Take account of what you see – is it wet or dry? Are there any variations in temperature? These two questions will help you determine one of the most pressing details when it comes to metal detectors, as selecting one that is suitable for your operating environment is the ultimate requirement. If there is any water that enters into the electrical areas of the machine, it could cause severe damage.
Water damage is the biggest cause of machine failure when it comes to metal detectors. Another question to ask yourself is if there is a wash down regimen in the plant, and if it is high or low pressure. The answer to this helps you determine if you need a machine that can withstand low-pressure wash-down, or high.
Does the wash-down include caustic agents? Be cognizant of the specific alloys present, as certain types of metal detector machinery are more resistant to caustic agents. In a dry environment, is the finish of the metal detector painted? Over time, chips of paint can easily flick off of machinery and end up in your product. Removing the potential hazard of a painted surface in your product stream would be wise here.
How Sensitive Should a Metal Detection System Be?
Depending on individualistic needs, your company’s metal detector will vary. Not only will it vary by company and product output, but it will vary by location on the assembly line. Perhaps at one point you will be looking to check the bulk flow of product – here, a higher sensitivity rate would be required, both to do a thorough check through the volume, but also to ensure the product is in top quality before leaving the warehouse. A lower sensitivity might be needed when checking a primary function, and where there isn’t a huge threat of contaminants entering in the stream.
Early Detection of Metal Contaminants Can Lead to Significant Savings!
Metal detectors allow companies the ability for early detection of contaminants in batch food items. With their high sensitivity, efficiency, and almost perfect performance, brands can save significant costs when it comes to renegade contaminants. Early detection finds the problem at the source, allowing your company to determine where in the line the product first was infected.
If the problem lies in the raw material, replacement of that particular material can be done easily, which is a large cost saving. Other machines and food quality control systems might not have the ability to detect minuscule contaminants so early on, resulting in the loss of finished products. Not only are ready-made products then wasted, but identifying the source of the problem is much harder, causing expenditure in problem-solving, time, and resources.
Brands in the food and packaging industries should take note of the many areas of benefit metal detectors provide. Investing in a system such as this allows for long-term gain and saved costs. For more information, contact Fortress Options.

In the not so distant past, people made a distinction between the digital world of e-commerce and the brick-and-mortar world of retail stores. The line that divided the online and the offline was clearly delineated, allowing businesses to determine their goals and design their strategies based on the normative expectations that surrounded these two very different spheres of commerce.
These days, this line between what is solely the domain of electronic commerce and that of physical retail spaces is slowly being eroded, thanks to the rise of new business models, processes, and technologies that are causing these separate worlds to intertwine.
Embracing the Omni-channel Approach
Presently, many businesses have begun to adopt a more omnichannel approach to retail and marketing. Supported by Internet technologies, this business model seeks to afford customers with a more seamless, more integrated shopping experience no matter the touch point or avenue involved in customer contact. Naturally, this has resulted in the convergence of online and offline shopping experiences in which buyers are presented with a multitude of options and technologies that are aimed at making shopping easier.
An apparel company, for instance, may choose to maintain both a brick-and-mortar outlet and an e-commerce shop to widen their customers’ options. After all, buyers may want to visit the physical shop to try on the clothes in person, or they may want to purchase these items in the comfort of their own homes.
In order to make the shopping experience as seamless as possible, a retailer will have to consider numerous other elements. For example, the launch of a merchandise can be promoted through social media or online advertisements, but it will have to be readily available once a customer decides to shop in person or online. The pricing also has to be consistent whether the person shops in-store or online and any existing promotion or incentive must be redeemable no matter the shopping format. The customer can be also provided with different options on how to obtain the merchandise, whether they want it delivered on their doorstep, picked up at the store after ordering online, or taken away from the store after shopping in person.
Revitalizing the Physical Retail Space
It may seem counterintuitive to think that Internet and digital technologies can improve in-store shopping experiences in physical retail spaces. After all, the idea of e-commerce appears to be antithetical to that of shopping in the real world. Nevertheless, as already mentioned, the Internet has made it possible for companies to integrate these two seemingly different worlds.
Beyond online marketing and e-commerce, however, Internet technologies are also effecting direct impacts on the physical retail environments themselves. To better understand the impact of the Internet and digital technologies on the in-store shopping experience, consider the study conducted by Google and partners, which revealed that 71% of in-store shoppers who use a smartphone for online research believed that their mobile phone has become more important to their in-store experience.
Not only do Internet and digital technologies provide customers with local information online before they actually go to the stores, they also allow retailers to customize buyers’ experiences once they are already in-store. This is why in-store Wi-Fi for retail environments are very important. The Google study showed that 42% of in-store shoppers conduct research while they shop in brick-and-mortar stores. Most of these people use search engines and the retailers’ own site or app to learn more about the items they are using. With this knowledge, retailers are presented with an opportunity to think of ways to better connect with their customers, as well as prevent them from choosing the competition.
If businesses can impress and engage savvy shoppers with innovative and personalized experiences that are tailored just for them, they can attract more customers with whom they can build long-lasting relationships. After all, the same study revealed that 85% of the respondents would be more likely to shop in destinations that provided personalized offers.
With this information as inspiration, businesses can then make use of the Internet and digital technologies to further enhance the customer experience. These can include employing QR codes and mobile coupons to deliver in-store promotions, using near-field communication technology and mobile payments to make it easier for cashless individuals to pay for merchandise, and capturing customer details in store so that they can be automatically signed up to your mailing list in exchange for deals and promos.
Within just a short period of time, Internet and digital technologies have greatly enhanced the way retailers conduct their business. As the digital and physical worlds of retail grow even closer, we can only expect more innovative solutions to be discovered and employed in the near future.
In 2016 we have seen so many brands coming up under smartphone category. Design & Built
Now starting with the Design and the built of CENTRiC A1, the phone houses in Full Metal Chassis and no plastic is being used in its built. The design seems to be inspired by other products available in the market. CENTRiC A1 also has a curve on the edges to add a perfect the grip while holding it in hand. They have given a 2.5D curved glass on its 5.5″ Display panel which adds extra protection as well as looks to the phone.
So, Starting with the top side here we get an 8-megapixel shooter beside it we get an earpiece and a Front LED flash which works well.
Coming little bit down we get a 5.5″ Full HD Display which gives you the resolution of 1980 X 1080. The front is covered with 2.5D curved glass.
Surfing the phone down we get back navigation keys which are printed on the lower side of the phone and do not light up.
Coming to the lower downside of the phone we get dual speaker grill our of which left is having the primary MIC in it whereas the right one is having an actual speaker in it which is quite loud in the outdoor situation. Between them houses a USB Type C port which supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 which is just amazing with this price and also support OTG. OTG is one of the most important feature these days.
Turing the phone to another side at the top we get 3.5mm Audio jack and a secondary noise cancellation MIC. Nothing else which we can find at the top.
Coming to the left side of the phone we get a Hybrid Sim tray slot which supports Dual Nano Sims at one time or we can use 1 Nano Sim and a Micro SD card up to 256 in another slot.
Turning to the right we get Volume rockers and power lock key which works quite well with proper haptic feedback while using them.
Finally coming to the back panel of the phone you will get a 13 MP camera besides that LED Flash and below that a FingerPrint sensor which works perfectly even with 360 Degree Recognition. At back, we also get a CENTRiC and DTS Audio Branding.
Display
CENTRiC A1 comes with a 5.5-inch FHD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and pixel density of 401ppi. The Display colors are more natural, and blacks are proper dark which means while watching movies and playing games the experience which you will get is going to be awesome. The Sunlight legibility of CENTRiC A1 is quite good. Overall the screen for movies and games and daily use is nice. You won’t be getting more strain on your eyes while using or reading books on the Phone just because of deeper blacks and natural colors.
Viewing Angle is good and you won’t be getting any chance to complain about it. While watching movies from odd angle won’t affect you in any way. There are different color modes, which you can change as per your usage by going into the setting panel.
Performance
The phone comes with Snapdragon 430 processor which features a 3GB Ram. This combo makes it a perfect device for this price as this is going to give good competition to Xiaomi Redmi 4. Out of 32 GB of internal storage you get about 24.5 GB free, even after that, you can expand it to up-to 256GB because of the phone support Hybrid SIM tray.
1 of 2
We get Antutu Score of 45010 and certain other scores are also good. With this screen size and average selfie, they have also given all the sensors which are required by any normal person.
1 of 1
They have not removed any sensors. We can use this smartphone with a VR headset also. Even while using GPS it will give you proper accuracy as it also has magnetic and orientation sensor.
1 of 2
Coming to the gaming part, we can play almost all games. In my use, I have not seen any lag or frame drops even in Asphalt 8 high setting. Every game even in the high-end setting is working well. I have tried playing most of the games like Asphalt 8, Shadow Fight 3, Batman, Bully at Adreno 505 GPU with the support of Snapdragon 430 processor work well. I have also not seen any heating issue while long gaming in DELHI, INDIA Temperature.
Camera
CENTRiC comes up with 13 MP rear Camera which comes out quite good with this price range. The rear camera seems to be even better than what we get in Xiaomi Redmi 4. We get better clarity and better bokeh with this price. Focusing on the device is good with the rear camera. The images came out really good with some great colors and saturation. Rest, I have already posted some camera shots downside. Coming to the Low light images, it comes up with a little bit noisy.
Coming to the front part here we get an 8-megapixel large sensor for selfies with a front LED flash in it. I would say taking selfies in good light will come out good but in low light, i would say Nah. Rest still it is very competitive with Xiaomi Devices.
Rest, we have a different option in the camera app which we can use and fiddle up with to get better shots.
CENTRiC A1 out of the box is loaded with Android 7.1.1 which is Android Nougat as of now and we have no info about when they are going to roll out Android Oreo on this device. The software seems to be stock and almost no bloatware in it. Some basics applications like Word and Excel is present in the device which can be further used in daily use for basic office work. The best thing is the Stock android which we are getting. Many of the users will surely be going to love the clean UI which they are offering at this price.
Battery
Coming to battery part of the phone which is its 3000 mAh Battery which works really well. It took me approx 1 hour 20 minutes to charge from 0 to 100% using its default charger. The best part of the phones is its feature of Quick Charge 3.0. This is because after LeEco lost there market no other brand came up with this massive specs in such affordability. Battery usage of the device is good. It will easily go to last you more than a day because of good software optimization.
Coming to the battery performance, on high usage, it will easily last you for a day and on normal usage, it will easily slightly more than a day. Rest, battery usage varies from person to person and their usage.
Verdict
Overall I think this surely going to be a good competition with Redmi 4 and some other brands in the market.
Pros
Quick Charge 3.0
Snapdragon Processor
Camera is above average
Stock Android
USB Type C support
Full HD display Support
HD games working fine
Cons
Processor can be bit above to get into more competition

If you have been an Android user and made up your mind to switch to iOS, then relax my friend you haven’t committed a sin, in fact, you have taken a smart decision. But, if you have been an Android user for quite a while now to accumulate a healthy amount of apps, videos, contacts, games, understandably, you must be having lots of questions crossing through your minds about what you can bring to your new phone.
Well, fortunately, you can bring all of your data and content, with a few notable exceptions. So, without any further ado, allow me to discuss 5 things you should know while switching from Android to iOS.
Moving Contacts
Before you go ahead and make a switch to Android to iOS, it is imperative that all your contacts are already synced with your Google account. If you really want to ensure this, all you need to do is to go to the webpage of Google contacts and just log in with your Google account.
Once you have assured that all your contacts are rightly synced with your Google account, now you can go to iOS settings > Mail > Contacts, Calendars, and finally tap on Add Account. At this stage, you need to select Google and fill in the details of your account. When you are done, make sure you have enabled the toggles on both Contacts & Calendars, then finally tap Save to finish it off.
Moving Data
While you are setting up your iPhone to relocate all your messages, photos, calendars, bookmarks, you can use ‘Move to iOS’ app on Android, but ideally, it is not advisable. I used this app and I liked it but having said that it really missed out on some of the data which may create some issues if you totally depend on it.
However, moving to iOS app comprise of an attractive feature that recognises the apps on your Android device and further it installs their equivalents from App Store to your Apple iPhone.
Moving Music
I am assuming that you are a big music fan as well and transferring all your music from your Android to iOS is one thing you want to do it without a hitch. In the event your music is DRM-free, all you need is to add your music to iTunes and sync it with your brand new iPhone. If your music has DRM, you will be needing to install an app in order to authorise it.
Some DRM is not supported on iPhone, so if you have an abundance of DRM music, make sure you have checked it before making a switch. Also remember, Windows Media files are not played on iPhone, so make sure you have changed them to AAC and Mp3 formats and then try syncing them.
Moving Photos
After music, the second most important thing for most of the people is photos. I am sure, just like everybody, you also don’t want to lose all your beautiful memories just because you have switched your phones. This is where you need to sync your phone’s content to your computer.
If you have synced the photos from your Android phone to one of the photo management programs on your computer, it is much easier to move your photos to your iPhone. If you are a huge fan of Apple, then you must be having a Mac and if you have it then you can easily sync your photos to iPhoto and you are good to go.
Moving Apps
Here is the major difference between both of these operating systems – Android apps don’t work on iPhone and vice-versa. So, if you have any favorite app on your Android phone, be informed that you won’t be able to take it to your iPhone. Fortunately, most of the Android apps does have iPhone versions as well or replacements that perform the same tasks.
Even if you need iPhone versions of the apps, you can’t be sure that your app data may also come with them. If there is an app that requires you to create an account or otherwise store your data in the cloud, you will be able to download all your data on your iPhone, however some apps store all your data on your phone.
