How to select the best Bluetooth speakers for your home

Music plays a pretty important role in most people’s lives, whether it’s played in the car to liven up a boring commute, as a motivator during a workout, or at home for sheer fun and relaxation.

These days there’s a great alternative to bulky speakers with their wires and fixed positions – and this miracle product is the Bluetooth speaker. They are generally smaller, much more convenient as they can be moved around as and when you choose, and they are generally much more affordable than traditional speakers are. (For more detailed hints and tips take a look at this article on the best Bluetooth speakers in India.)

How to find the best Bluetooth speakers for your home

This may seem a bit of an overwhelming task, but it isn’t actually that difficult if you take note of these handy tips.

Tip 1 – Consider the range

Don’t make a costly mistake by buying Bluetooth speakers with an inadequate range. Look for a range of at least 30 feet to be sure you will be satisfied, or more if your circumstances make it necessary. If possible test it out before you buy.

Tip 2 – Buy a speaker with two drivers

If your Bluetooth speaker only has one driver you probably won’t be able to enjoy the stereo sound you’d like, so look for speakers with two drivers to make sure this won’t be an issue.

Tip 3 – Don’t be misled by the numbers

You will come across numbers like version 2.1 or version 4.0, but do you understand what they really mean? It would be natural to assume that the higher number means it’s a newer version and therefore a better buy, but that’s not really the case.

In fact, these different numbers refer more to purposes than abilities. For example, a Bluetooth fitness tracking device needs to collect a lot of data on everything from how long you sleep to how many steps you take a day. Therefore it needs to use version 4.0 for the larger storage space. Speakers, on the other hand, don’t need that, so they work fine with version 2.1. You can buy either version and feel confident that your speakers will work as intended.

Tip 4 – Consider charging options

If you have the opportunity it’s worth buying a Bluetooth speaker which also had battery capacity, as this free you to take it out into the yard, the park, the car, to a friend’s house, or when you go camping really easily. When using the Bluetooth at home you may prefer to power it via a standard electrical socket or be happy to use a USB cable and charge it from your computer. Whichever method you choose, be realistic about which is most convenient for you the majority of the time.

Tip 5 – Check the sound quality

Let’s face it, if the speaker’s sound quality is poor then you are stuck with a substandard product, so you should always check this out before buying. Never assume that by simply paying more for a Bluetooth speaker that the sound quality will automatically be great, as it doesn’t tend to work like that.
