Kia’s Sonet emerges as the undisputed leader in the Compact SUV segment, clinching the title of the lowest maintenance cost according to Frost & Sullivan’s Total Cost of Ownership Benchmark analysis. The report highlights significant achievements, including a 16% and 14% lower maintenance cost for the Petrol and Diesel models, respectively, compared to the segment average.

Kia Sonet Key Findings from Frost & Sullivan’s Analysis:

  1. Maintenance Cost Mastery:
    • Petrol Model: 16% lower than the segment average
    • Diesel Model: 14% lower than the segment average
  2. Total Cost of Ownership Triumph:
    • Sonet Diesel: Best in Segment (Lowest TCO) with a value-for-money package; 10% lower than the segment average
    • Sonet Petrol: 2nd Best in segment; 4% lower than the segment average
  3. Residual Value Royalty:
    • Residual Value is 3% higher than the segment average, ranking among the best
  4. Fuel Efficiency Feat:
    • Sonet Diesel: Best in Segment with 6% lower fuel cost than the segment average
    • Sonet Petrol: Among the top 3, closely following the bests
  5. Scheduled Maintenance Superiority:
    • Sonet Petrol: 7% lower scheduled maintenance cost compared to the closest rival and 25% lower than the segment average
    • Sonet Diesel: 17% lower scheduled maintenance cost compared to the closest rival and 24% lower than the segment average

Understanding the Analysis:

  • Parameters: Frost & Sullivan considered various parameters such as Initial Acquisition Cost, Residual Value, Maintenance Cost, Finance and Insurance Costs, and Fuel Expenses.
  • Coverage: The analysis focused on the Compact SUV segment in Metro (New Delhi).
  • Competition Models: 8 models (5 Petrol and 3 Diesel) were evaluated against the Kia Sonet.
  • Customer Base: Individual and Fleet Owners were considered, assuming an average annual distance of 10,000 km.

Kia Sonet, launched in September 2020, has achieved remarkable success with over 3.65 lakh units sold to date in domestic and export markets. The refreshed Sonet is set to make its debut on December 14, 2023, further solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the Compact SUV segment.
