Vivo U20 Unboxing & Quick Review
Design & Built
Now, when it comes to the design and built of Vivo U20, the phone comes with a premium-looking glossy finish at the back. It uses plastic material, maybe because they wanted to low down the cost as well as extra weight from the phone. The design seems to look more classic from their previous model Vivo U10 and nothing much has been changed over it. On the front, there is a 6.53″ FHD+ Display panel which looks great.
On the top portion of the phone, you will be getting nothing, turning around to the down portion, it houses single speaker grill, besides it there is a Micro USB port, a primary mic and a 3.5mm Audio Jack.
Coming to the left side of the phone you will get a dual Sim and a Micro SD card tray up to 256 GB.
Turning around to the other side of the phone you will get volume rockers and below that power lock key which has a good tactile feel on it.
At the front top side, you get a 16 MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.
At the back panel of the phone, you will get a 16-megapixel main camera with the Sony IMX499 sensor and an f/1.78 aperture accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree field of view, there is also a 2-megapixel macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture that can capture stills at a distance of up to 4 cm. Apart from the camera, you will get a flashlight and a fingerprint scanner at the back.
Display
Vivo U20 comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ Halo full view display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340. The display colours are more towards blue tint which looks more vivid and dark. But still, the screen is really very great. Watching movies and playing games will give you some great experience. The sunlight legibility of Vivo U20 is also very good, while on automatic brightness or on manual brightness you can see the screen easily in direct sunlight. But I will say the display panel of Vivo is great. U20 has obtained the Widevine L1 certification. It means that users can enjoy high-resolution content from streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Overall the screen for movies and games and daily use is good.
Performance & Sensors
The Vivo U20 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC processor with the support of 4GB RAM / 6GB RAM to get the smooth performance in day to day usage. In my review time I have not seen any lag in their UI. While playing PUBG Mobile, I experienced a smooth rendering even at a higher setting. The game is working with no lag and no frame drops. This time Vivo has given UFS 2.1 storage which is much faster than a normal storage memory, which is usually seen in flagship smartphones.
If we take look at its benchmarks, it seems good at that price segment. Vivo U20 also packs with almost all the necessary sensors in it. The overall experience is very fast and smooth while using different apps at the same time like Instagram, twitter and camera app.
Camera
Coming to the camera it supports 4k video recording with 30fps. Now starting with the triple cameras of the Vivo U20, It has 16-megapixel main camera with the Sony IMX499 sensor and an f/1.78 aperture accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree field of view, and a 2-megapixel macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture that can capture stills at a distance of up to 4cm. The daylight photos seem to be decent but if you switch in the HDR mode they become better, with good colour, saturation and even clarity. Overall the rear camera seems to be decent and macro shots are great. You can also check our Vivo U20 review video and some camera samples which are added below.
Now coming to the 16MP front camera, Selfie’s clicked using Vivo U20 comes really very great. You will also get a portrait mode in front camera as well. So, I have no complaints with 16MP selfie camera of Vivo U20.

Software
Out of the box, Vivo U20 comes up with Android Pie with the skin of Funtouch OS running on top of it. The UI seems to be very smooth and lag-free. There are many new small features like eye protection, power-saving mode, which will help you in day to day usage. This time Vivo loaded it with ultra game mode, which is designed to give you unstoppable gaming experience by reducing frame-drop, it gives you smoother gaming experience. By my testing, it shows very little improvement in terms of performance but you can use it for switching off your notifications and calls whiling playing games.
Battery
This is the best part of this smartphone, Vivo U20 comes up with a massive battery of 5,000mAh battery which lasts really long and its 18W Dual-engine fast charging technology, fills up this big battery in no time. You U20 also supports reverse charging technology and can charge other devices like a mobile power bank.
Thanks to the AI software optimizations, for a moderate user the battery will easily last more than 2 days and if you are very aggressive usage it will easily last you a day. This means you need not to worry about the battery while using the phone, it will last you long. And the best thing is you don’t need to buy 18W fast charger separately, the 18W fast charger will be in the box. Isn’t it Great!
Verdict
Vivo U20 is an all-rounder phone in the budget. You almost get every necessary feature that a normal user desire. From camera to battery to playing games, Vivo had covered all for you. If your budget is low then you can go for it.
Pros
- Triple Camera
- 18W Fast Charger in Box
- Battery Life
- UFS 2.1
Cons
- No USB Type-C
This is the best budget phone. I always prefer VIVO phones for gaming and camera.😍😍
