Helo further strengthens its safety features and content moderation policies

Helo is a social media platform that allows the users to create, upload, and share a variety of content like flashcards, GIFs, short videos, music bytes, jokes, memes, status updates, wishes, quotes, poetry, and news. It is one of the leading social media platforms in India that brings people together so that they can create and share content in their own native language. Helo is a platform that allows a diversity of people to connect with broader community. Earlier Helo was available in 15 different languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and more. Now, Helo further strengthens its existing safety features and content moderation policies, making them available in 14 Indian regional languages. This is done just to provide a safe user experience for its users.

Shyamanga Barooah, Head of Content Operations, Helo, commented on these safety endeavors and said that maintaining a safe, secure, and positive in-app environment is the most important thing for Helo. This is the only reason why they continuously enhance and update their policies, safety tools, and online resources. He also added that just to make sure that fake news does not get promoted on the platform, Helo has collaborated with an independent, third-party fact-checker.

A recent partnership with an internationally acclaimed fact checker to counter misinformation and fake news is yet another step taken by Helo to further intensify its efforts in minimizing misinformation and fake news in the online community. It has partnered with third-party fact-checkers like the Jagran Group, certified by International Fact Check Network and Poynter Institute.

Helo has now also advanced its in-app safety measures with 13 new safety features that include In-app Reporting, Privacy Settings, Restricted Mode, Parental Control, and Comment Filter, to name a few.  The “ In-app reporting features allow:

1.  The users to have greater control over their feed

2. The users will be able to report content or profiles that violate the Community Guidelines.

To make the app more user-friendly, Helo offers the community guidelines in 14 Indian Languages, which includes Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya and more.  No doubt that the Helo’s working on providing in-app safe environment to its users is highly appreciable. This will only encourage the users to exchange their perspectives and sharing of information across a diverse array of cultures and beliefs.
