Oculus is a Facebook-owned company that specializes in making virtual reality hardware and software products. The company had its fifth conference of Oculus Connect last week, which is a virtual reality developer conference. The company announced a completely new product in the Connect conference that goes by the name of Oculus Quest. Oculus Quest is the world’s first all-in-one standalone gaming system built for virtual reality.

Oculus Quest VR headset comes with six degrees of freedom (6DOF) inside-out tracking where the user can move his head up, down, left, right, forward and backwards and these movements are replicated in the virtual world. The Quest comes with four wide-angle sensors across the corners of the front faceplate that read the room and locates the user’s position in it. The installation is also very easy, simply set up the device with the Oculus mobile app, suit up and game on.
The two controllers that are fully tracked hand controllers are a new version of Touch controllers that come with the company’s best offering, the Oculus Rift. The number of buttons including grip buttons, triggers and face buttons accurately imitates the movement. The tracking ring has been placed on the top, instead of bottom to provide more visibility. The Oculus Quest is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile processor which has now become a generation old with the new Snapdragon 845 used in Samsung Galaxy S9.
Oculus is trying to bring a lot of games into the Quest device. It is preparing a lot of ports of Rift games. Games like The Climb, Robo Recall will be coming to the new Oculus Quest. A new Start Wars VR series, Vader Immortal will also be launched for the Quest. The device has a resolution of 1600 x 1440 per eye display resolution. The Oculus Quest comes with an amazing in-ear system which emits the sound such that both the sounds of the virtual and outside world are audible. The Oculus Quest is available at a price of USD 399 and is expected sometime around Spring of 2019.
