Oppo, a leading global smart device brand and today it has commenced its 2019 OPPO Developer Conference (ODC) in Beijing under the theme of “Innovation and Intelligence” . In the conference, Oppo unveiled a range of new services with developers and partners. There were 3 initiatives announced at the conference; program “Gravity Plan 2.0”, the “Five System-level Capability Exposure Engines” and the “IoT Enablement Plan”.
Gravity Plan 2.0
The Gravity Plan was officially launched in 2018 at the Developer conference by Oppo. Since then, the plan has almost provided resources for more than 2,000 applications that resulted in 9.2 billion impressions and more than 180 million downloads.
For the Gravity plan 2.0 program OPPO will allocate RMB 1 billion in 2020.
At today’s Developer Conference event, Henry Duan, Vice President, Internet Services, OPPO, said that with the help of ColorOS, the “Gravity Plan 2.0” will build on 2018’s plan to provide sustained and all-round support to partners in the four major fields of applications, services, content and going global.
Five System-level Capability Exposure Engines
With the launch of Five System-level Capability Exposure Engines Oppo enables Multi-scenario Convergent Experiences. This program is launched to enable the developers to connect to OPPO’s system-level capability t provide smooth, quick and better user experience to the users.
The Five System-level Capability Exposure Engines includes:
- Hyper Boost
- Link Boost
- CameraUnit
- MediaUnit
- ARUnit capabilities
At today’s Developer Conference event, Andy Wu, Vice President, Software Engineering, OPPO, said that the launch of Five System-level Capability Exposure Engines program will help developers to leverage creativity, explore scenarios, maximize value and build a world of intelligent connectivity in which reality and the virtual realm integrate.
IoT Enablement Plan
At today’s event, Oppo announced that it will be launching the “IoT Enablement Plan. It is a capacity opening program that aims at opening OPPO’s HeyThings IoT protocol, HeyThings IoT service platform and audio connectivity protocol for IoT partners.
It is expected that newly-upgraded HeyThings IoT service platform will be deployed through OPPO’s open platform in Q1, 2020 whereas the first phase of the audio connectivity protocol is expected to be in service in June 2020.
As per Bobee Liu, Vice President, Intelligent Mobile Devices, Oppo, the brand will soon debut its first smartwatch, OPPO Watch, and a health platform, which will be positioned as a strategic device that OPPO will use to create a robust ecosystem with its partners.
However, Oppo plans to invest RMB 50 billion (USD 7 billion) into R&D spending in the next 3 years to develop core technologies in hardware, software and system in addition to 5G, AI, AR, big data and other frontier technologies.
