Sharp Business Systems, who brought the revolutionary and innovative concept of air purifier, recently announced that their air purifiers with inbuilt patented plasmacluster ion technology have been ratified by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) for its adequacy and effectiveness.
Along with TERI, the effectiveness of Sharp’s air purifier has already been validated by 28 labs globally. The non-profit research institution, TERI conducted a study to see the impact of Air Purifiers in improving indoor air quality with a special focus on particulate matter (PM) and gaseous elements. It was found that Sharp’s Plasmacluster Ion technology releases ions that destroy the chemical pollutants and nullify the harmful effects of VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compound) and other toxic gases.
To check the strength and capability of Sharp’s Air Purifier, TERI installed Sharp’s Air Purifier in three different types of locations in Delhi and Bangalore, which are the most tropical regions of India. The installation was done during the month of February and March and was continuously monitored along with indoor air quality assessments.
Indoor air quality check was done in real world conditions and for the following parameters at all the selected locations with and without air purifier:
- Respirable suspended particulate matter less than 10 μm (RSPM/PM10)
- Fine particulate matter less than 2.5 μm (PM 2.5)
- Fine particulate less than 1μm (PM 1)
- CO (Carbon monoxide)
- CO2 (Carbon dioxide)
- Ammonia (NH3)
- Nitrogen dioxide (NO2)
- Formaldehyde (HCHO)
GRIMM Aerosol Spectrometer along with Q-track monitor was used for measurement and analysis purposes. Sharp Air Purifier model FP-F40E was used in the study. Indoor air quality monitoring was done continuously for 8 hours at each location. After installation of air purifiers, monitoring was carried out for five time periods ranging from 15 minutes to 90 minutes. The whole procedure was strictly followed as per the guidelines of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

On analysis of data, the levels of PM10, PM2.5 & PM1 were found to be decreasing. This shows the effectiveness and efficacy of Sharp’s Air Purifiers. Being validated by an organisation like TERI, Sharp’s Air Purifier have definitely proved their worth and established their contribution in making the environment, pollution free and a healthy place to live in.
