Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, launched the Poco F1 in India, under Xiaomi’s Poco sub-brand. The smartphone is the most affordable smartphone to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC which comes with a starting price of Rs 20,999.

Poco F1 will retail at Rs 20,999, Rs 23,999, and Rs 28,999 for the 6 GB+64 GB, 6 GB+128 GB, and 8 GB+256 GB respectively. The Armoured Edition comes in a single 8 GB+256 GB configuration will retail at Rs 29,999. Poco F1 will go on sale exclusively on mi.com and Flipkart on August 29, 2018, starting 12 PM. There is also an additional rebate of Rs 1,000 for HDFC debit and credit card holders.
Poco F1 sports a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with a 1080 x 2248 pixels resolution. The phone has a notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and also has an infrared sensor for face detection in the dark. The device comes with a “LiquidCool Technology” which we have heard in Galaxy Note 9, a thermal solution to help dissipate heat quicker and better. This could certainly make a difference to game enthusiasts.
The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with an Adreno 630 GPU and comes in three variants. The base model comes with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, the kevlar-backed armoured edition comes with an 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage. There’s also a 6 GB RAM with 128 GB variant and an 8 GB RAM with 256 GB internal storage. The storage can also be expanded via a microSD card. The device will run a customised version of MIUI 10 with a ‘Poco Launcher’ based on Android Oreo 8.1. It will receive the Android P update in the near future. Poco Launcher includes an app drawer and app grouping options.
On the Optic front, Poco F1 sports a dual camera set up on the rear consisting of a 12 MP primary sensor with dual-pixel autofocus and a 5 MP depth sensor. On the front, it comes with a 20 MP sensor featuring a Super Pixel technology that gives clearer images with less noise. Both the rear and front cameras are supported by AI features for photos, such as AI-Portrait, AI Beautify, and AI Scene Detection.
The Poco F1 is backed by a massive 4,000mAh battery and supports a Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. Poco also throws a fast charging adapter into the box. Connectivity options include are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and there is a USB Type C port. A fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear. According to Jai Mani, Pocophone’s product head, the Poco F1 is the first smartphone in India to feature 4G+ support.
PocoF1 is available in three colour variants – Graphite Black, Steel Blue, and Rosso Red. The premium addition to the Xiaomi brand, the new Poco F1 will definitely compete with the OnePlus 6 and Asus Zenfone 5z among others.
