On Friday, Huawei Mate X5 secretly debuted in China. The phone boasts a 7.85-inch LTPO OLED screen on the inside and a 6.4-inch LTPO OLED screen on the outside, but the business hasn’t disclosed any information on the phone’s chipset. There are two storage capacities and five color choices for the phone. The handset’s price has not yet been disclosed. It’s the follow-up to Huawei’s Mate X3, which debuted in China in March and included a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with eight processing cores.
The recently introduced handset is available in the colors White, Black, Gold, Aoyama Dai (Green), and Phantom Purple (translated from Chinese). Pre-orders may be placed now for CNY 1,000 (approximately Rs. 11,300) for either the 12GB + 512GB or 16GB + 512GB model. The Collector’s Edition of the Huawei Mate X5 is also available in 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB storage configurations.
Huawei Mate X5 Features and Specs
With a size of 7.85 inches, a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels, a touch sampling rate of 240 hertz, and an aspect ratio of 8:7.1, the LTPO OLED display on the inside of the Huawei Mate X5 is impressive. Screen specs for the cover model include a 20.9:9 aspect ratio, a touch sampling rate of up to 300Hz, a resolution of 2504 x 1080, and Kunlun glass protection for the OLED LTPO screen.
The new Huawei foldable, which unfolds like a book, has up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of built-in storage. Like the newly released Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro, the Mate X5 runs on Huawei’s proprietary Harmony OS 4.0.
The Huawei Mate X5 has a fifty-megapixel main sensor, a thirteen-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a twelve-megapixel sensor with a periscope telephoto lens that also has optical image stabilization (OIS). An 8-megapixel sensor is included inside the front-facing camera.
The Huawei Mate X5 has a 5,060 mAh battery and supports rapid charging at 66W through cable connection or 50W via wireless charging mat. The dual nano SIM phone has a fingerprint sensor on the side for further security. It is splash-proof to an IPX8 standard and has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C connection options.
When folded, the Huawei Mate X5 is 156.9 x 72.4 x 11.08 mm and when opened, it is 156.9 x 141.5 x 5.3 mm and weighs 245 grams.
Huawei Mate X5 Price and Availability
Both 12 and 16 gigabytes of RAM and 512 gigabytes of storage are available in the Huawei Mate X5. It is available in several different colors, including black, white, gold, green mountain, and purple. The backs of the purple and green versions are simple leather, whereas those of the other colors are made of glass.
Huawei’s Mate X5 Collector’s Edition comes in a few different configurations, including one with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage and another with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Mate X5 series pricing is yet being finalized.
Huawei Mall is taking deposits of 1,000 Yuan ($136) for the Mate X5 and its Collector’s Edition. On September 15th, it’s scheduled to hit shelves. The Mate X5’s worldwide release date is still unknown.
