Samsung, based in Suwon, revealed on Friday (September 1) that the launch conference for the W series would take place on September 15 in China. The Samsung W24 and Samsung W24 Flip, successors to the Samsung W23 and Samsung W23 Flip, are likely to be part of the W series, which Samsung has only stated. Customized variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to launch soon. It’s possible that the Chinese variations will look quite identical to the Indian releases, with the exception of minor hardware tweaks.

The press presentation for Samsung’s W series debut will take place on September 15. According to a teaser poster the firm posted (in Chinese) on Weibo, the debut ceremony will take place in China at the Chengdu High and New Sports Center.

Rebranded versions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 called the Samsung W24 and Samsung W24 Flip are scheduled to be unveiled during the event. Like last year’s Samsung W23 and W23 Flip, they will not be released internationally outside of China. The Chinese versions of the foldable often have higher-end specs and a more China-centric design than their international equivalents.

In October of last year, Samsung introduced the W23 series. CNY 15,999 (approximately Rs. 1,82,300) gets you the base model with a single 16GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration. However, the lone 12GB RAM + 512GB storage configuration of the Samsung W23 Flip 5G was priced at CNY 9,999 (about Rs. 1,13,900).

At the Galaxy Unpacked event in July, Samsung showed off the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in addition to the Galaxy Tab S9 series and the Galaxy Watch 6 family of smartwatches. Armor Aluminum frames and Android 13 power the worldwide versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Both use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy as their central processing units. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 features 8GB of RAM, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has 12GB. These water-resistant foldable smartphones have an IPX8 grade.

The battery of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is 4,400 mAh, and it can be quickly charged through wired 25W fast charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 3,700mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging, courtesy of Samsung.

The basic model of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will set you back Rs. 1,54,999 in India, while the base model of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will set you back Rs. 99,999.
