Nikon Z8 Specs

The Nikon Z8 can capture high-quality video in a number of different formats, including 12-bit N-RAW, ProRes RAW, 10-bit Apple ProRes 422 HQ, and 8-bit H265 SDR. Video may be recorded in 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) at 60p, 50p, or 30p, all of which are oversampled from 8K.

The 4K 120p option provides more creative freedom for filmmakers who need a higher frame rate. You can get higher quality by shooting in 8.3K/60p (only in N-RAW) or 8K UHD/30p. According to Nikon, the Z8 can capture footage for up to 125 minutes in 4K UHD/60p and 90 minutes in 8K UHD/30p.

The Nikon Z8 has a new Pre-Release Capture mode. High-Speed Frame Capture+ allows users to capture images up to 1 second before and 4 seconds after the shutter button is completely pushed.

About 3% of a human face’s size is detected automatically by the camera’s autofocus. In addition to supporting 3D-tracking, auto-area AF, and 20 different kinds of custom wide-area AF (12 different types in the video), it also has subject recognition.
