Reliance Jio undoubtedly is one of the biggest players in the telecom industry in the past couple of years. The company is soon about to start registrations of their broadband connection, named, Jio Giga Fiber on 15th August 2018. They have been testing out this service since 2016 in a few selected cities, which according to the users has been a huge success. This broadband connection is supposed to provide users with download speeds up to 1 Gbps.

The company intends to start this broadband service with 1,100 cities only within India. The broadband service could also work with TV and smart home suite. The company will set up a GigaTV set-top box and provide the users with a voice-controlled remote. This will give users access to “600+ TV channels, thousands of movies, millions of songs, and any other type of content possible”. Accessories such as a video dongle, audio dongle, Wi-Fi extender, smart plug, TV camera, outdoor security camera, smart speaker and lot more will be a part of GigaFiber connected smart homes. Jio Giga Fiber Broadband Registrations via MyJio : How to Apply? 1August 15 is the date for registrations only. The broadband service will be provided later on according to the demand in various cities based on the number of registrations. The company will start the high-speed broadband network in areas with the highest demands. Mukesh Ambani in his AGM speech clarified that “we will prioritize our Jio GigaFiber rollout to those localities from where we receive the highest number of registrations.”

No official plans have been confirmed by the company yet regarding the Jio Gigafiber, but a refundable amount of Rs. 4500 will have to be paid by the customers for the router in areas where service is available. The company in their presentation claimed to provide 1 Gbps downloading speed and 100 Mbps uploading speed. One can register for Jio GigaFiber using the MyJio app and Jio.com website which will go live on 15th August.
