At its ‘Wonderlust’ event on Tuesday, Apple introduced a new version of its AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) truly wireless stereo (TWS) headphones. In contrast to the first model, which debuted with Apple’s Lightning connector in 2022, the updated edition has a USB Type-C port. Apple claims that since the iPhone 15 series has a redesigned USB port, the updated wireless headset may also be charged by the new phones.
According to Apple, the AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) will support lossless audio playback over a wireless connection with the Apple Vision Pro in the following year, and the TWS headset is equipped with the same H2 chip and supports the improved Find My functionality that the company introduced on the second generation TWS earphones last year.
AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) Features and Specs
Apple’s newest H2 chip enables Personalised Spatial Audio with user-customisable head tracking and Dolby Atmos compatibility, much as the second-generation AirPods Pro that were introduced at the company’s ‘Far Out’ presentation last year. According to Apple, they have the same pressure sensor for stem-mounted controls and come with the firm’s exclusive high-excursion speakers.
When linked to the Apple Vision Pro, the company’s first spatial computer launched this year, the AirPods Pro 2 TWS earbuds will provide 20-bit, 48 kHz lossless music playback (in addition to the AAC codec). The charging case has an U1 chip and a tiny speaker that can be used to broadcast a sound to help you pinpoint the whereabouts of your headphones should you misplace them.
The USB Type-C version of the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) has the same features as the previous model year’s version, including a battery life of up to 30 hours, active noise cancellation (ANC), and Adaptive Transparency modes, and skin detection to pause music playback when the earphones are removed from the user’s ears. Apple claims that, like the previous generation, these headphones have a dust- and water-resistant IP54 designation.
AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) Price and Availability
The Indian retail price for the second-generation AirPods Pro with USB Type-C is Rs. 24,900. On September 22, the cordless headphones will be available for purchase in India.
Apple also showed off a new wired headphone, the EarPods, which connect through USB Type-C and retail in India for $0.20 ($0.20).
