These day we have so many devices in the market and each of them are doing something new and crazy to make its value in the market. We have seen Coolpad always coming up with something new and crazy. They launched cheapest device with 3 sims, they launched cheapest device with metal body, they launched cheapest device with Dual camera and now they are back with cheapest device with 6GB Ram. Now this is pretty incredible for the market. When most of the brands are increasing the price due to specification, Coolpad is lowering down the price to get better stability in the market.

Recently, they have launched Coolpad Cool Play 6 which is cheapest device available in the market with 6 GB RAM and top Notch specification in this pricing. The device is available at the price point of INR 14,999 which is exclusively to amazon.

We have been testing the device from couple of days now and personally loving the device if we neglect the large bezels of the device.

Design & Built 

Now coming to the design part of the phone which is inspired from its predecessor Coolpad cool 1 still, when we come to the specs and other part this one is way better from the older one.

Starting from the front part, at the top, it houses an 8-megapixel Camera and beside it some of the sensors and earpiece and multi color LED notification.

Coming little bit down here we get a 5.5″ FHD Display which seems to be quite good and perfect which we can get in any Budget device.

Below the display we get back capacitive keys, which do light up in the night and also give you haptic feedback while you use them. So you need not worry about using the phone in the dark.

Coming to the down portion of the phone you will get Dual Speaker grills out of which only right one is having actual speaker whereas the left grill has the Primary MIC in it. Between those grills houses a USB Type-C port which also support Quick charging facility and USB OTG support.

On the Top portion of the phone houses a 3.5mm audio jack which is again a positive point for the users. Nothing else which we need to explain over here.

Now, finally coming to the sides of the phones on the left side you will get a SIM Tray which only supports Dual nano SIM’s and no Micro SD card. This thing can be bad for some the buyers.

Turning around you will get volume rockers and power lock key which gives quite good tactile feel while you press them. There is no pattern feel on buttons, but still, they feel quite premium and made up of metal only.

Turning around to the back side of the phone, here comes the Dual 13-megapixel camera. Beside it houses a Dual tone LED Flash and a Secondary Noise cancellation MIC.

Below that you will get a Fingerprint sensor which works pretty well and I have no complaints regarding it and a little bit down you will get Coolpad Branding. The whole device is made up of metal and no plastic is being used.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes up with a 5.5-inch FHD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and pixel density of 401ppi. The colors are vibrant and vivid. Color and white balance feel perfect and makes it a pleasant display to use. There are also 4 color profiles that you can choose as per your taste.

The Sunlight legibility in Cool Play 6 is not very bad and not very good. In too much sunlight it being very difficult to use the device perfectly. Auto-brightness works perfectly. Viewing Angle are good and while watching movies or playing games from odd angle won’t affect you in any way.

Performance

Coolpad Cool 1 Play 6 is powered by the Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 653 and is supported with a massive 6 GB RAM. The price in which the phone is being offered is something amazing. The performance of the phone is quite well and you can almost run any kind high end game or multi task on it with no lag and sluggishness.

There are some of the normal software bugs which can be fixed with next few updates. While playing some of the high end games like GTA San Andreas, Riptide i won’t find any lag or frame drops but while playing Asphalt 8 at very high end setting it won’t give me any issue. While gaming on Cool Play 6 for more than 20 to 25 minutes it heats up a lot. The temperature which i noted was 43 degree that too in Delhi Temperature. Now you can imagine the heat which it produces.
 
Cool Play 6 from coolpad also have almost all the sensor which a consumer can demand like Gyroscope and many other.
Over all, you can do intense multitasking on Coolpad Cool Play 6, and you won’t be facing any lag in daily use.

Camera

The Dual Camera at the rear is one of the another highlighted feature of the phone. The phone comes with Dual 13-megapixel Camera at its rear. If you are waiting for a phone which is having Dual Camera’s with high end specs with 6 GB RAM that too in budget than this device is meant for you.

When we click an image the data is gathered from both the camera sensors and merge it to get the best shot with some great color and bokeh in it. I have attached many camera samples taken from the dual back camera as well as taken from the 8-megapixel front facing camera.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 it is loaded with Android Marshmallow 7.1.1 with a skin of there new UI which is Journey UI. The Ui works well and is well optimized with the RAM which is offered to us. Still i would say need more improvement as still there are some of the minor bugs which can be fixed in later OTA updates.

Overall the UI experience is quite good, and with 6 GB ram, it works perfectly. We get different modes, different themes and many other option which can be used as per our usage and demand.

Battery

Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes up with a 4000 mAh battery which gives you some excellent backup so far. We have been running the device with 2 SIM’s and 4G was continuously on with JIO and even after that there were 4 email ID’s which were syncing on a regular basis, different apps and take my words very heavy usage. Even after that more than 30% juice was left till the end of the day. The only drawback was that even after Cool Play 6 is some minor bugs in the UI.

Recently i got a OTA update which fixed most of the bugs but still more research and testing is need on UI.

Verdict

Overall, for the users who don’t have enough budget and want a device with good camera and  6 GB massive RAM then this device is for you.

This color was previously available in China and has some good demand in India too because many of the users were importing it directly. But finally Xiaomi after collaborating with Bengaluru-based NGO working on restoring lakes and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The company is working with BBMP to restore a number of aspects of the lake including plantation of saplings, setting solar lights, outdoor fitness centre, play area for children, setting up toilet facilities. This is the reason why Xiaomi came up with another demanding color of there most sold device in India.

Vice President of Xiaomi and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain issued a statement stating, “We are a company who believes in giving back to the community. Water bodies have been the source of water for ages for people of Bengaluru but over the past decade, these water bodies have been facing serious threat. To show our concern for the cause we are taking up the maintenance of Kempabudhi kerre, to support BBMP in bringing it back to its initial days of glory as a project under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. To commemorate this cause, we are launching Redmi Note 4 Lake blue edition which would further contribute to this cause.”

The specification of the device is same as we are alredy getting with other version no change is made as of now. The device is priced at INR 12,999 and sale will go on from at 12 pm on September 4. As Xiaomi always comes with something unique but this time they have braked up all the barriers as this time they are giving proper bezel less design with ceramic hard body, gold plated rings, top notch specs and affordability. is there anything which is left out, i don’t think so. They have also used very innovative future technology which i will be explaining later in this article.

Actually built of the device is very premium and luxuries, still it is very delicate and slippery due to material they have used is glossy. Definite use of case is required else you are going to break the device in single day. I would say the built of the device and feels is top notch and you won’t get even a single complaint about it that too in this affordable pricing. Everyone is going to ask which device this and how your get receiving your calls.

One more thing, Xiaomi MI MIX is the world’s first device with Bezel less display with added ultra sonic sensor used for hearing the calls.

Xiaomi MI MIX come up with a huge 6.4-Inch Bezel Less Display, which gives you the resolution of 1080 x 2040 with the pixel density of 362 ppi. Overall i love the display.

There is a hidden ultra sonic sensor beside the display which work as a earpiece. Just place your ear any where on the phone while on call, the whole frame of the phone will vibrate and make you talk with other person. Really very innovative.

The screen visibility in different lighting situation is also good and even in bright sunlight you can easily use it with great auto brightness feature. Overall no complaints with the display, everything works fine and with this screen size I would say FHD is more than enough and it also won’t require more battery life with that large battery. We also get a 2.5D curved glass on top of display which makes it more smooth while using.

I only thing which i noticed is that, it seems to be little bit delicate device even after having the ceramic model it feels very slippery and in any case you drop the device it will surely going to break down in pieces.

Overall, till now the best bezel less phone with top notch specification available in the market.

Performance

Under the Ceramic and metal body construction of MI MIX is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor supporting with an Adreno 530 GPU & 128/256 GB in-built. Coming to the performance part it is one of the smoothest phones till now and it is more polished because of their MIUI 8 and soon will be update in MIUI 9, which is one of my personal favorite ROM. You can also update MIUI 9 manually if you want it right now, but it won’t be the stable version.

I have tested the MI MIX 6 GB and 256 GB version and accordingly i got different benchmark score which i have attached here.

From every aspect media, browsing and all multitasking, the MI MIX works flawlessly with no question in mind. Each and every game, whether it is a high end game or a low end game it work perfectly to me. No heating complains as of now.

Battery

Xiaomi MI MIX comes with large 4400 mAh Battery, which works whole day very easily with this large bezel less display. For me it easily last me more than 1 whole days rest it depends on your usage. For normal users it will last more than 2 days for sure. This can be possible because of new snapdragon battery efficient processor plus well optimized MIUI 8.

The device houses with a USB Type-C port and also support Quick Charge 3.0 which make the device charge extremely fast. It takes about 2 hours 15 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%. Rest, it depends on your usage and work how to get better battery out of it.

We also get different battery modes which you can switch as per your usage and comfort. Each mode has its own specifications an features according to which we can select the mode for proper battery optimization.

Camera

The best thing is that we can also record 4K videos using the phone. Overall the quality of camera is bit average not very good not very bad, it is decent. In day it take some really good shots where as in night it struggles a lot just like Redmi note 4 and other xiaomi Devices. Till now MI 6 is the only phone from xiaomi that take really really great shots.

At the front we get 5-megapixel camera which captures decent shots. But as the front facing camera is fitted up at down side below the display you need to rotate the phone to take selfie shots. This seems to be problem for some of the users but as this device main focus is on display them you can neglect this issue.

After the first boot i got the update for 1.5GB which make that MIUI 8 convert to Xiaomi MIUI 8.2.2. It is loaded with some really awesome features, and the best among them I like is the Dual app mode and Dual System using which you can live you personally and office life in two parallel ways.

Verdict

Overall i just loved the device, not even a single day was left behind when some one has not asked me what device is this from where you are listening the calls. Can you please let me use your device for a second. These all question were there all the time when ever i travel in Metro.

They are more towards the natural side and feels comfortable to eyes. White balance seems to bit high at high brightness rest you can control it manually by changing the display settings manually. The display can easily be used in very bright sunlight. There are different color profiles that you can choose as per your comfortability by going into the setting panel.

Auto-brightness work perfectly, and I have no complaints regarding the display. But still i was expecting a FHD display in this price range or at-least a amoled display.

Performance

Gionee-A1-Lite-back-panelThe Gionee A1 Lite comes with MediaTek MT6753 which is paired with Mali-T720MP3 and a 3GB RAM. There we get 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded by up to 64GB using a microSD card slot which is a dedicated slot.

Even the device has Mediatek MT6753 processor it can some how handle all graphic intensive games such as GTA San Andreas, Bully, Batman, Nova 3 and much more, but at lower settings. Playing these games on higher setting will give you frame drops and sluggishness. The main objective of the phone is its built with great selfie camera.

Some issue which I faced in the UI was apps get crashed, where i need restart the app to work on it. It is not always but few times in a week. The camera app sometime gets laggy while you are recording on FHD, but if you use a third party app to record videos, it works perfectly fine, this happen might be because in there default application they are providing many modes. Hope all these issues can be fixed by Gionee in there next OTA update.

We forgot to mention about the sensors which are available in Gionee A1 Lite, so I would say we have all the sensors which a person need a phone you can even use a VR on the phone with no hassle, not even a single sensor is removed from the device.

Camera

Gionee-A1-Lite-cameraStarting with the most highlighted feature of Gionee A1 Lite i.e. its 20-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash which allows you to take brighter and better photos even in low-light. To add more effect the camera app comes with a ‘face beauty’ mode, which allows you to smoother your skin tone, removing wrinkles, slimming down your face and much more. Allowing you to have smoother and wrinkle-free selfies. This is not enough because it supports HDR mode in selfies.

I would say Gionee A1 Lite does take some good front facing photos in daylight as well as in no light. Rest, everyone is going to love the selfie’s taking from the front facing camera of Gionee.

Now coming to the rear camera, here we get a 13-megapixel sensor with LED flash. There are different modes which we get in the app like Pro mode, night mode, time lapse, slow motion, text recognition, and text translation and many other. The camera UI is very simple and easy to use, but sometime get laggy may be due to too much modes in single application which I have already explained earlier in the article.

As per my views, rear camera of Gionee A1 is a bit average and we cannot compare the same with other budget oriented devices because this phone is more towards offline-centric and not online centric. But, still It takes pretty good photos in good light but significantly get noise in low-light conditions.

They have customized a whole lot of stuff in their UI, and I would say it is buttery smooth even after filling the whole 32GB internal storage, with games, movies, and songs. In Amigo UI we don’t get any app drawer or on screen buttons just like iPhone.

Overall, the UI is quite good, but the person who love stock then this device is not for you, you will get so many customization right in your hand out of the box. There are some minor bugs, but we can expect those bugs to be fixed by Gionee in next coming OTA updates.

Battery

Coming to the battery part of the phone here we are getting 4000 mAh battery. On moderate or even too high usage, the smartphone will easily last you 24 hour on a single charge, and even more, it depends on your usage. I was Using Jio Sim + 15 minutes approx gaming, continuous whatsapp, facebook and other social media, some selfies and at the end of the day the remaining battery was 55% which seems to be quite good for me. There we also get some energy saving modes which will further optimize your battery life. You can choose different battery modes between normal mode, power saving mode which reduces performance and finally an extreme mode which will switch off all the stuff and you will be able to use some basic features like phone, contact, messaging in it.

Overall device is good and has its own pros and cons just like other devices. Nothing is perfect in the world.
