Reliance Jio is taking the Indian people by storm. After the announcement of Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan plan extension and the trail of Fibre to home service in selected cities. The company is back again to launch it’s JioPhone, the cheapest 4G feature phone in India. The device is all set to launch, and the registrations are open; right now. The device is priced at 1,500 INR.
As far as the specification is concerned, the device is featuring a 512 MB RAM and supports 4G VoLTE. The device also supports NFC, which will be very beneficial for online payments. The device has alphanumeric keys and features a 2.4-inch color screen. It also has a VGA camera and runs on Android OS.

The device does have a dedicated micro-SD slot for, storage expansion. It will be preloaded with all the JIO apps, like JIO music, JIO TV and etc. It also comes with an integrated panic button, which is very helpful in emergency situations. In other specifications, the device has Bluetooth 4.1, FM Radio and a huge long lasting battery.
There is no WiFi, no Dual SIM.
Earlier, it was reported that the device will come with a WiFi support. After the announcement of the product, we are sure that the device will not feature any WiFi capability at all.

How to Register for JioPhone 4G Feature phone?

The process is very simple, you just need to install my JIO app and pre-book the feature phone. You can also visit your nearest Reliance JIO store and pre-book it from there.
The Registration “JIO friendly trail” will start from August 15, 2017. However, the final pre-booking will start from 24th of August.
Is it really free?
So far, the device is not exactly free. Even Reliance’s ad campaign says ‘it’s effectively free’.
After the pre-order, you have to pay 1,500 Rs. As a deposit money. The money will be refunded after 3 years of use, but the problem is you’ll have to return the device to JIO in order to get your money back. So, the device is practically free for 3 years.
Well, we are not sure if the customer would even want to return the device after 3 years of use. The device will be in bad shape after three of extensive use. Some customer may even lose the device and some might break it. We are not sure if the company will even take damaged phone or not.
What are the Plans?
The TRAI Guidelines states that the customers need to recharge their phone and use at least once in every three months. Which basically means you have to recharge your JIO phone at least 4 times a year.

Basically, The TV-Cable is an advancement in the JIO feature phone. With this, you can connect your feature phone to your TV and stream media content. To enjoy this service, you’ll be required to buy a JIO Phone-TV Cable accessory. After that, you’ll be needed to recharge your phone with 309 Rs. In order to mirror your content from the phone to the TV.
As far as we know, the accessories will be compatible with all the commercial TV in the market, including the CRT ones.
Note that the JIO Cable service and the 309 plan is to only get the capability to stream media content on the TV. It doesn’t provide any Data or free calling or anything.
