LG Dual Screen Phone Launch Teased for IFA 2019 Again, V60 ThinQ Expected

On Monday 11 August, LG unveiled a new video of a smartphone with a detachable dual screen. The smartphone is going to make debut in the Indian Market in the next month. The upcoming smartphone by LG is expected to be the successor to the V50 ThinQ. The smartphone is going to be named as LG V60 or LG V60 ThinQ.

The smartphone is going to be launched by LG on the eve of the international Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin on September 6, 2019.  The company also promoted the smartphone on Instagram. The 15 second video on Instagram with a title “Dual, the Better” depicts the upgraded movement of the second screen of V50, which can be positioned at either 104 degree or 180 degree. The upcoming smartphone has “free stop hinge” technology. The smartphone is designed to add the ability to stop and hold the second screen at any position, like a laptop.  The smartphone is expected to face stiff competition with Samsung Galaxy Note 10 which is going to be released in August and the Galaxy Fold, set for a late September launch.

Apart from V60 or V60 ThinQ, the smartphones from the  Apple and Huawei are also expected to hit the market in the coming months. LG has focussed on using the idea of Samsung Electronics and Huawei to use second screen as a practical alternate to make a foldable phone.

Realme 5 Series Phone India Launch Set for August 20, Flipkart Reveals

A few days ago, we all came to know that in the process of competing Xiaomi, Realme is set to launch its first quad rear camera setup phone in India very soon. The date has come now! Flipkart confirmed through a dedicated microsite that Realme is going to launch its new Realme 5-series model with a quad rear camera setup on August 20. The formal timings for the launch is 12:30 PM. It is going to be the first Realme phone with a 64-megapixel camera phone that will sport a Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 image sensor. Though the launch of the phone in India is August 2 yet it will be arriving in India before Diwali, which means before October 27.

Along with the confirmation of launch date, the dedicated microsite also reveals that the upcoming Realme phone will come with a primary sensor with a “large pixel size” and “large aperture” lens and secondary sensor  with an ultra-wide-angle that carries a 119-degree field-of-view, tertiary sensor with a super macro lens sporting a focal length of 4cm, and the fourth sensor with a portrait lens. Flipkart has also released a teaser video that provides additional information regarding the back of the upcoming Realme phone. The video depicts the quad-camera setup alongside an LED flash module.

The upcoming Realme smartphone makes use of the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 image sensor. The same sensor is used by Samsung and Xiaomi on their 64-megapixel camera phone. However, the Realme phone with the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 image sensor could arrive as the Realme X Pro, an upgrade of the original Realme X. currently, the company is planning to introduce 3 quad cameras set up phones and out of these, one of them is going to be launched on the 20th of August.

Jio GigaFiber Plans, Fiber Commercial Launch Date, Jio Set-Top Box, and More Announced

At the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM), the biggest news was regarding the launch date of Jio Fiber commercial launch. The launch date is of 5th of September which is basically the date marked as the third anniversary of the launch of Jio services. Some other announcements including Jio set-top box, Jio Post-paid Plus plans for Fiber customers, the Jio Fiber Welcome Offer, as well as a partnership with Microsoft were also made at the meeting.

The Chairman and Managing Director of the Reliance Industries Limited, Mr. Mukesh Ambani revealed that till now Jio GigaFiber has received around 15 million registrations for its Fiber home broadband service. He also said that the company aimed to reach 20 million residences and 15 million business institutions across 1600 towns. The process will last with the setup at the 1100 towns as per the announcement was done last year. Since 2016, the Jio Gigafiber is in the testing phase and is currently piloted in 5 lakh homes. He also announced that Jio Gigafiber Internet of things platform will be commercially available from January 1, 2020. He announced the partnership with Microsoft and revealed the plan of the company to create one of the largest networks with tens of thousands of nodes over the next 12 months with the aim to store Indian data securely within Indian borders.

Jio Fiber plans will be offered at the price between Rs. 700 and Rs. 10,000 per month. Jio Fiber plan services also offer free voice calls from home to any Indian Operator and for international voice calling the company will offer the lowest fixed-line rates. In the meeting, an unlimited international calling pack for calls to US and Canada was announced for Rs. 500 per month. As for now, the Jio Fiber plans start from 100Mbps and Jio Fiber will be introducing plans for 1Gbps very soon.

At the meeting, the chairman also announced that Jio Fiber plans will come with Hotstar Premium and Netflix subscriptions. The premium Jio Fiber customers get the benefits of watching the movies the same day they are released under the service named Jio First Day-First Show. This service will be launched in the middle of 2020. Jio fiber subscribers will also get the benefit of Jio Post-paid Plus.  The Jio Post-paid Plus will offer priority SIM set-up service at home, family plans with data sharing, international roaming, and phone upgrades at preferential rates. Not only this much, but Jio Fiber subscribers opting for annual plans (called Jio Forever Plans) will also get an HD LED or 4K TV and a 4K set-top box free as per the Jio fiber Welcome offer. The Jio set up box is claimed to be designed to accept TV signals from LCO partners.

Mr. Ambani also said that collaborating with Microsoft, he is planning to provide cloud infrastructure plans for the country. For the start-ups, Jio will offer connectivity and cloud infrastructure absolutely free. The start-ups can now register on custom-designed package on Jio.com from January 1, 2020.

Huawei announces HarmonyOS, an Open Source Operating System for Smartphones

Today, at the Huawei Developer’s conference (HDC) 2019 event, Huawei announced the company’s very own operating system for smartphone, tablets and smart IoT devices such as smart speakers, computers, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, cars and more. The operating system is named as HarmonyOS and the CEO Richard Yu said that the brand’s very own operating system is the first microkernel-based distributed Operating System and it is created with four major building blocks to ensure that the new generation operating system is best suited for the digital world today.  As HarmonyOS operating system is based on a microkernel, it is more efficient to protect system security from the threats as compared to Android.

There are no as such updates regarding the 64-megapixel camera smartphone by Realme but the company has revealed that it is using Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor for the 64-megapixel camera smartphone. Considering the teaser posted on the official twitter account of Realme, we get an idea that the company’s upcoming Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro smartphones will feature quad-camera setups. The brand confirmed that it is only bringing one 64-megapixel camera phone in the near future and the upcoming successor to Realme X is going to feature the quad-camera setup with a 64-megapixel primary shooter.

Realme Company also mentioned that they have been working closely with Samsung ISOCELL to create a prototype in order to start their development and testing work before GW1 was manufactured. As per the company, the quad-camera setup will include ‘Super Wide Angle’ photography support, 2x telephoto lens, ‘Ultra Macro’ photography support, and expert mode.

The company has also shared the pictures depicting the qualities and capabilities of the quad-camera set up. Realme mentioned that the upcoming 64-megapixel camera phone will feature a 64-MP mode. The 64-mp mode will allow the users to click 64-megapixel photos, in addition to the default pixel-binned 16-megapixel photos.

Samsung, a South Korean multinational conglomerate company has launched two galaxy devices at the latest Galaxy Unpacked event. Both these devices have lot of similar specifications, however, the display, battery size, as well as the RAM and internal storage varies for both the devices.  Galaxy Note 10 is available in red and pink color options, while, Galaxy Note 10+ is only available in blue color options. We are still waiting for these devices to launch in India so that we check whether the color options are available in India or not.
