I have been using the Vivo x21 for past couple of weeks now and trust me the 6.28″ FHD+ screen with a 90% Screen-to-body ratio give me great experience. We get a 19:9 which is again new from 18:9 device still it offers better and bigger display from any other device in the market. Turning the device around we get the curvy feel with glass and aluminum finish all over. Vivo X21 is lightweight which make your palm feel quite comfortable while using the device n regular basis. Adding the glass makes the device a bit slippery, which make me suggest to use some case or skin on it.
We get a glass built, with Snapdragon processor and great selfie camera which I think is quite good as always from Vivo. The device is priced at Rs. 35,990. The device fits perfectly in your hand even after having such large display. The price seems to be at the premium side but still with world’s first phone with under display fingerprint, proper glass body people can get one for them.
Starting with the design part; at the front top, we get a most defined thing from iPhone X which is a notch and all display. The notch contains a large 12-megapixel selfie Camera setup which good as always. Beside it, we get different sensors, earpiece, Multi-Color LED Notification and nothing much which need to add up over here as rest everything is a display only.
Coming to the lower side we get a 6.28-inch FHD+ Display which is covered with 2.5D curved glass. Nothing about gorilla glass is being mentioned by the brand. The curve glass gently melds in along with the curved sides, thus making it a joy to hold in the hands without any fatigue. You will just be going to love the display. The display also contains world’s first under display fingerprint sensor which is generation 1 still works really well. I am really addicted to it.
Coming little bit down we get on screen back keys which can be transformed into gesture feature just like we see in iOS and after the update, you can even hide all the gestures icons also and utilize the whole display with gestures. Using gestures in Vivo device is just love. I am just so addicted to it.
Addiction to Gestures on Vivo X21 is Natural after few Days of Usage
Turning the phone to the downside here we get a primary MIC and a micro USB port which supports OTG and Quick Charge 3.0. Beside it, we also get a speaker grill which product very good sound output. We also get a Hybrid Slat slot beside all this. The sim tray support Dual VoLTE feature which is quite mandatory these days in the Indian market.
Coming to the left side of the phone here we get nothing which needs to be mentioned.
Turning to the other side we get Volume rockers and power lock key which works quite well on regular usage. They are also made up of metal with glass finish on them.
Coming on to the top side we get a 3.5mm audio jack which product DTS high-quality output. Beside it, we get a secondary noise cancellation MIC.
Finally coming to the back side of the phone here we get a 12+5-megapixel camera with a support of LED flash. Below that we get Vivo branding. We can also see glowing shiny u-type antenna lines on the back side of the phone.
Vivo X21 Display
Display of Vivo x21 is the USP of their product. The technology which they have used in their display is unique and world’s first. Vivo X21 comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ Display with a resolution of 1080 X 2280. The display gives you the ratio of 19:9 which will be quite odd for few hours of usage after that you will be habitual as well as you can increase the ratio of the application by going into the setting panel. The colors on the display are sharp and playing games look great. The display which we get in Vivo X21 is a Super AMOLED display which makes the display look dark and increase the experience of watching movies to another level. The Sunlight legibility is also good because of its really great brightness.

Overall no complaints about the display. The best thing is that it has under screen fingerprint sensor in it, which is just another love in 2018.
Vivo X21 Performance The phone comes with Snapdragon 660 processor which features a 6 GB Ram and a 12-megapixel camera and under display fingerprint sensor. This combo makes it a perfect device. Out of 128 GB of internal storage you get about 118 GB free, even after that, you can expand it to up-to 256GB because of the phone support Hybrid Slot.
We get Antutu Score of 98285 and certain other scores are also good. With this screen size and great selfie and under display fingerprint, they have also given all the sensors which are required by any normal person. We can also use VR with this device as it supports gyroscope sensor. Even while using GPS it will give you proper accuracy as it also has magnetic and orientation sensor.
Coming to the gaming part, we can play almost all games. In my use, I have not seen any lag or frame drops even in Asphalt 8 high setting. Every game even in the high-end setting is working well. I have tried playing most of the games like Asphalt 8, Shadow Fight 3, Batman, Bully at Adreno 512 GPU with the support of Snapdragon 660 processor work well. Pubg on HDR and High setting working fine on it with no lag and issue. I have also not seen any heating issue while long gaming in DELHI, INDIA Temperature.
Vivo X21 Camera
Vivo X21 features dual camera sensors (12MP+5MP) on the rear end. The dual camera makes use of the face detection autofocus technology, dual pixel technology, and AI support. It produces an image with good natural looking colors even in indoor and low lighting. When it comes to the camera and picture’s quality, we are often worried about the uneven blurs in the picture, but the rear camera portrait mode of Vivo X21 effectively manages to detect edges and evenly blurs the subject from the background.
In low light photography, I would say it took good shots but you need to fix the noise by using Lightroom or Photoshop. The images came out really good with some great colors and saturation. Rest, I have already posted some camera shots downside.
Coming to the front part here we get a large 12-megapixel sensor for selfies with a front display flash and no front flash as it comes with a top screen notch in it. I would say taking selfies in good light as well as no light will come out really good.
Rest, we also have a different option in the camera application which we can use and fiddle up with to get better shots.
Vivo X21 Camera Samples Vivo X21 Software Out of the box, Vivo X21 comes up with Android 8.1 Oreo with the skin of Funtouch OS 4.0 running on top of it. This OS seems to be inspired by iOS and is not having any app drawer. Rest you can also change different themes by downloading it from their itheme application. Rest there is nothing much which I think must be explained over there. The UI seems to be very smooth and lag free. Rest there are many new small features like eye protection, power saving mode and the best one is gesture navigation where you can ide the below on-screen navigation and use full display perfectly by using gestures to go back, which will help you in the day to day usage.
Vivo X21 In-Display fingerprint sensor
The major feature of this smartphone is that it’s the first smartphone which consists an in-display fingerprint sensor. Because of this in-display sensor, there is no need to add a physical fingerprint sensor and home button on the device. Hence, an in-display fingerprint sensor in Vivo X21 is the center of attraction and deserves all the attention and publicity. Moreover, when it comes to the quality of the sensors, it’s fast, consistent and it even works with wet hands. You can even change the fingerprint animation according to your usage and personality.
Vivo X21 Battery
Vivo X21comes up with 3,200mAh battery. Overall it took about 1 Hour 15 minutes to charge from 0 to 100% from their default charger. Even with my heavy usage with containing whole day Wifi Hotspot+dual Sim+ Whole day calling and messaging and browsing. Until the end of the day, I left with 25% of battery. The device supports quick charge 3.0 which makes the device charge really fast. This means you need to worry about battery while using the phone it will last you long.
Verdict For selfie, notch and show off lovers, it is going to be a great device. Overall in daily usage, you won’t find any issue. Under display, the fingerprint is just another love.
Pros
Great Selfie Camera Software Optimisation Good audio quality Fast fingerprint sensor ( Under Display Fingerprint sensor) Great face unlock Very Lightweight and Handy Glass and metal body Cons
High Price No USB Type-C Battery can be improved
New Vivo X21 is the first ever smartphone with an invisible fingerprint sensor that you can actually buy. This is one of the standout features of the device for a very solid reason.
The Vivo X21 is a slim, gorgeous looking, light weight smartphone with good chipset performance, expected camera outputs and sustainable battery.
