OnePlus One Android 5.0 Lollipop Alpha

OnePlus One has a nice little surprise in store for its customers, by providing alpha ROM which android 5.0 Version for there customers. The firm announced Wednesday that customers can now download and install an alpha version of Android 5.0 Lollipop to their OnePlus One phones.

The company said it’s trying to stick to the AOSP Lollipop build as much as possible, so don’t expect any enhancements or even CyanogenMod for that matter. That’s good news for Android purists out there.

OnePlus says you should proceed with “extreme caution” and backup your phone first, so if you don’t want to live with a brick, make sure you follow the steps.

Instructions:

Since this is an alpha build with limited testing, please proceed with extreme caution and backup your phone before flashing this build.

You will need to have TWRP recovery installed on your device. If you don’t have it, please follow the instructions on the site to flash recovery onto your device.

The experience is best when you have GMS (Google Mobile Services) installed. If you have GApps package, you can install it after you flash the ROM to have access to all the google services.

This build does not have a built-in recovery so if you do a clean wipe, you may have to reflash TWRP onto your device.

Step 1
Download Oneplus_community.zip (you can find the link below) and copy the file to your phone. On a Mac, you can use Android File Transfer. If you have TWRP installed, you should see a TWRP folder, and that’s where you want to place the zip.Step 2
Boot into TWRP recovery. You can do this on your OPO by holding both the volume down and power buttons.Step 3
Once you are in the recovery interface, the first thing you want to do is go to Wipe and do a factory reset to clean your data, cache, and Dalvik. Note that you will lose all of your files so make sure everything is backed up before continuing.

Step 4
After the wipe, go to install and find the zip you copied to your device and confirm flash. This should flash the ROM to your device.

Step 5
After flash is complete. Clear your cache again. If you have GApps, install it now. Reboot your phone.

Step 6
You should now be booted into the new ROM. Enjoy.​

General

Known issues

  • Data roaming is on by default. Make sure to turn if off to avoid potential charges.
  • As always, flashing a custom ROM incurs the risk of bricking your phone. Make sure you know what you’re doing and backup everything.
  • Camera and video may be unstable. This build supports 4k video, however quality may be low as we are still fine-tuning the camera.
  • Capacitive keys do not turn off when you enable software keys.
  • Clock crashes periodically.
  • If using the new app pinning feature in L, make sure to turn on the software keys first. Otherwise, you will have to reboot your machine.
  • On first boot, startup time will be a bit slow. Rest assured we will speed things up in the future.
  • Wi-Fi may be unstable.
  • This build is not eligible for OTA updates.

OnePlus which was recently banned from importing and selling the OnePlus One in India due to an Case granted to Micromax over the use of Cyanogen branding and software on OnePlus devices. The Delhi High Court has now reversed its decision, allowing OnePlus to continue selling phones in India.

As Micromax having an exclusive licensing agreement with Cyanogen for its YU series of phones. The judge had then banned OnePlus from selling phones in India, allowing only to sell the remaining stock they had .

Now judges Pradeep Nandrajog and RK Gauba said in their court order that they have set aside the appeal that banned OnePlus from selling phones in India, and that the case will be heard and decided afresh by a single judge on January 7. Until then OnePlus can continue to sell phones in India.

The problem arose with the original verdict being given after hearing only Micromax’ plea. OnePlus was never given the opportunity to present its case, which is what is going to happen on January 7. OnePlus’ logical argument is that the Yureka phone Micromax sells costs INR 8,000 while the OnePlus One costs INR 22,000 and thus neither competes with each other. On top of that, OnePlus claims to use the Cyanogen 11s version of the OS, while Micromax is using and has rights to only the Cyanogen 11 version on its Yureka phones.

Cyanogen is also being asked to file a written statement along with OnePlus, which will be presented in court on January 7.

Leaked specs of which claimed to be the Xperia Z4 Ultra suggest that the upcoming Sony tablet will be the most powerful mobile device or tablet ever launched. The leaked specs are so unbelievable that we literally cannot believe them, especially since we don’t know where PadNews, the blog that leaked the specs, got the source image from.

Anyway, let’s take a look at the specs in the image below:

As you can see, these specs make the Xperia Z4 Ultra tablet the single most powerful tablet to ever be launched. Now, while Sony has a reputation of packing its devices with quality, powerful hardware, the above specs do seem out of this world.

On the other hand, if Sony can actually deliver an Android tablet with a 13-in 4K IPS display, a 64-bit octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM and a 12,100 mAh battery.

The camera is also trumped up – an 1/2.3″ Exmor RS sensor with an f/1.8 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens and just 8MP resolution. That’s probably the Superior Auto resolution as the rest sounds like an improvement over the Xperia Z3 camera with a better lens (Zeiss f/1.8 instead of Sony G Lens f/2.0).

The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra will be a slinky 8.6mm thick and pack a massive 12,100mAh if the rumored specs are to be believed. The image by itself is quite suspicious, holding a massive 13″ tablet with such thin bezels will not be comfortable.

All in all it sounds too good to be true. We’ll gladly admit if we are wrong and Sony does pull this out monster at CES or MWC 2015, but for now we’re skeptical to say the least.
