In the middle of a nationwide lockdown, there is very little positive news. The world economy has slowed down, manufacturing hubs have been put on a halt but somewhere around, a company is trying to get back on its feet. The prevalent OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro was launched yesterday as New OnePlus Flagship Smartphone. The device that well has been waiting for, both the new devices promise better specs, amazing display, exemplary performance, and 5G. But is it the device that we all have been waiting for, kind of…
OnePlus Flagship Smartphone Leaks Were True!
OnePlus has been teasing the smartphone for quite a while, and the leaks are true. The OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a punch hole 120Hz display, Quad Cameras, IP68 Water resistance, Wireless charging, and 5G network support. These are not just any flagship feature; they are the premium segment top-notch specs.
In terms of display, the device has received the highest display rating from DisplayMate. It features a Fluid AMOLED 120Hz display with a 6.78-inch 3168 x 1440 QHD+ screen, has HDR10/10+ playback, and 1300 Nits peak brightness. It has a 10-bit color depth and 0.4 JNCD (Just Noticeable Colour Difference) that delivers much natural display than any smartphone. The device is also protected via 3D Corning Gorilla glass. It is packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Octa-core 2.8Ghz processor. The processor is backed by Adreno 650 GPU for startling graphics and gaming. The device will come in two RAM options 8 GB and 12 GB and features two storage options 128/256 GB.
As far as the camera is concerned, the OnePlus 8 Pro is now armed with four camera lenses. The primary camera is a 48 MP Standard lens with an f/1.78 aperture and a 1/1.4” sensor size, the second camera is an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and f/2.4 aperture. The third camera is a 48 MP Ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, the fourth camera is a 5MP color filter lens with f/2.4 aperture. The device packs OIS, Laser, PDAF, and EIS together. The OnePlus 8, on the other hand, is the affordable version of the same device. It doesn’t have features like Adaptive Display, Vibrant color effect pro, Motion graphics smoothing, 30W Wireless charging, 120Hz display, IP68 water resistance, and Quad camera. It packs a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and sports triple rear camera with a 48+16+2 MP lens, which is a standard, ultra-wide and macro lens. The also features Smart 5G network, WiFi 6 and a 4,300 mAh battery. The rest of the specs are pretty much identical.

Is OnePlus 8 Pro worth buying?
Let’s be honest here!
There is no doubt that the new OnePlus 8 Pro is a premium device that can deliver high performance, the bummer here is just the pricing. OnePlus has always established itself as the flagship killer, the device that can outperform some of the best smartphones in the market, including iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel. They were always the company that gives premium features at an affordable price and that is what makes them a winner. And honestly, $999 (75,000 Rs) is not affordable pricing; at the same price, you can get an iPhone 11 or Samsung Galaxy.
Indeed, the new OnePlus 8 Pro will perform as equal as Samsung Galaxy or may be able to capture a better picture than an iPhone, but it will never become iPhone, Galaxy or Pixel. It’s high time for OnePlus to come out with a different marketing strategy to capture the affordable market. Yes, the device is great, but OnePlus is no longer the value for money smartphone for middle earning people at least for USA.

8 GB + 128 GB | OnePlus 8 | Rs. 44,999 |
