Design & Built

I have been using the Vivo V9 for past couple of weeks now and trust me the 6.3″ FHD+ screen with a 90% Screen-to-body ratio give me great experience. We get a 19:9 which is again new from 18:9 device still it offers better and bigger display from any other device in the market. Turning the device around we get the curvy feel and polycarbonate lightweight body which make your palm feel quite comfortable while using the device n regular basis.

We get a polycarbonate built, with Snapdragon processor and great selfie camera which I think is quite good as always from Vivo. The device is priced at  Rs. 21,990. The device fits perfectly in your hand even after having such large display.

Starting with the design part; at the front top, we get a most defined thing from iPhone X which is a notch and all display. The notch contains a large 24-megapixel Camera setup which is the USP of the phone. Beside it, we get different sensors, earpiece, and nothing much which need to add up over here as rest everything is a display only.

Coming to the lower side we get a 6.3-inch FHD+ Display which is covered with 2.5D curved glass. Nothing about gorilla glass is being mentioned by the brand. The curve glass gently melds in along with the curved sides, thus making it a joy to hold in the hands without any fatigue. You will just be going to love the display.

Vivo-V9-Gestures-Control-Techniblogic

Coming little bit down we get on screen back keys which can be transformed into gesture feature just like we see in iOS. Overall, I have fixed gestures as back keys as it gives us more screen for movies and games.

Vivo-V9-Micro-USB-Port-Techniblogic

Turning the phone to the downside here we get a primary MIC and a micro USB port which supports OTG and no fast charging. Beside it, we also get a speaker grill which product quite good sound output and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Vivo-V9-Triple-Tray-Slot-Techniblogic

Coming to the left side of the phone here we get Triple tray slot which supports Dual SIM’s as well as at the same time it supports Micro SD Card up to 256GB.

Vivo-V9-Volume-Rockers-Techniblogic

Turning to the other side we get Volume rockers and power lock key which works quite well on regular usage.

Finally coming to the back side of the phone here we get a 16+5-megapixel camera with a support of Dual LED flash. Below that we get a fingerprint sensor which is really very fast same as we see in Oneplus devices. We also get Vivo branding below fingerprint sensor. We can also see glowing shiny u-type antenna lines on the back side of the phone.

Display

Vivo-V9-Cover-Techniblogic

Display of Vivo V9 comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ Display with a resolution of 1080 X 2280. The display gives you the ratio of 19:9 which will be quite odd for few hours of usage after that you will be habitual as well as you can increase the ratio of the application by going into the setting panel. The colors on the display are sharp and playing games look great. While watching a movie on to the phone give immense experience. The Sunlight legibility is also good because of its really great brightness.

Also Read:

Viewing Angle is good, and blacks are decent enough. While watching movies from odd angle won’t affect you in any way. Overall no complaints about the display.

Performance

The phone comes with Snapdragon 626 processor which features a 4 GB Ram and a 24-megapixel camera. This combo makes it a perfect device for the price segments. Out of 64 GB of internal storage you get about 56 GB free, even after that, you can expand it to up-to 256GB because of the phone support dedicated Micro SD card Slot.

We get Antutu Score of 90083 and certain other scores are also good. With this screen size and great selfie, they have also given all the sensors which are required by any normal person. We can also use VR with this device as it supports gyroscope sensor. Even while using GPS it will give you proper accuracy as it also has magnetic and orientation sensor.

Vivo-V9-Gaming-Techniblogic

Coming to the gaming part, we can play almost all games. In my use, I have not seen any lag or frame drops even in Asphalt 8 high setting. Every game even in the high-end setting is working well. I have tried playing most of the games like Asphalt 8, Shadow Fight 3, Batman, Bully at Adreno 506 GPU with the support of Snapdragon 626 processor work well. I have also not seen any heating issue while long gaming in DELHI, INDIA Temperature.

Camera

Vivo-V9-Camera-Application-Techniblogic

Vivo always comes with some great camera. This time in Vivo V9 it comes with 16+5 MP rear Camera which comes out quite good. The rear camera seems to be even better than what we get in Vivo V9 as V9 is obviously an updated model. We get better clarity and better bokeh. The images came out really good with some great colors and saturation. Rest, I have already posted some camera shots downside. Coming to the Low light images, it comes up with a little bit noisy.

Coming to the front part here we get a large 24-megapixel sensor for selfies with a front display flash and no front flash as it comes with a top screen notch in it. I would say taking selfies in good light as well as no light will come out really good.

Rest, we also have a different option in the camera application which we can use and fiddle up with to get better shots.

Software

Out of the box, Vivo V9 comes up with Android 8 Oreo with the skin of Funtouch OS running on top of it. This OS seems to be inspired by iOS and is not having any app drawer. Rest you can also change different themes by downloading it from their itheme application. Rest there is nothing much which I think must be explained over there. The UI seems to be very smooth and lag free. Rest there are many new small features like eye protection, power saving mode and the best one is gesture navigation where you can ide the below on-screen navigation and use full display perfectly by using gestures to go back, which will help you in the day to day usage.

Battery

Vivo V9 comes up with 3,260mAh battery. Overall it took about 1 Hour 45 minutes to charge from 0 to 100% from their default charger. Even with my heavy usage with containing whole day Wifi Hotspot+dual Sim+ Whole day calling and messaging and browsing. Until the end of the day, I left with 30% of battery.

This means you need to worry about battery while using the phone it will last you long.

Verdict

For selfie and notch lovers, it is going to be a great device.

Pros

  • Great Selfie Camera
  • Software Optimisation
  • Battery Life
  • Good audio quality
  • Fast fingerprint sensor (same as Oneplus)
  • Great face unlock
  • Very Lightweight and Handy

Cons

  • High Price
  • No USB Type-C
  • Plastic Body (polycarbonate, which looks like Metal)
