WhatsApp Beta Testers Can Try New Voice Chats and ‘Send for Admin Review’

New functionality has been introduced to WhatsApp beta, the company’s testing version of the widely used messaging program. Users may initiate a group voice call, sometimes known as a “audio chat” in its older iterations. The ability to send messages to group administrators for evaluation was also enabled in a recent beta release, which may facilitate more efficient group management. These enhancements will eventually make it to the stable channel.

According to WABetaInfo, who keeps tabs on all the new features added to WhatsApp Beta, the beta version of WhatsApp for Android will soon get an upgrade that includes the audio conversations feature. The call symbol is replaced with a waveform icon while making group audio calls thanks to this new functionality. If you tap the symbol, you may create a group voice conversation that anybody in the group can join. These voice chats are similar to group voice calls in that everyone in the group will be notified of the conversation by push notification, but their phones will not ring.

The feature tracker has provided several screenshots demonstrating the feature’s group functionality. Members of the group may join a voice chat after it has been started and carry on a conversation as if they were on a conventional phone call. WABetaInfo claims that inactive calls would be terminated after one hour. It seems that the same 32-person limit that exists for WhatsApp Beta calls will now apply to audio conversations.

However, a new feature targeted at enhancing group moderation was apparently included to WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.23.16.18, which was published over the weekend. To enable group members to submit messages to a group’s admin for approval, WhatsApp has included a new choice in the group settings section called submit for admin review.

Users may already report offensive messages to WhatsApp Beta, and the messaging service recently added the ability for group leaders to remove messages as a moderation tool. According to WABetaInfo, once this function is activated, group members will be able to notify administrators about unwanted communications. Administrators may be able to see communications they otherwise would have missed thanks to this function.

WhatsApp Beta has not yet said when these updates will become available to all users. Even after installing the most recent update, Gadgets 360 was still unable to verify that these functionalities were included. This indicates that they may soon become available to users who have downloaded the most recent beta version by means of a server-side upgrade.

Lok Sabha Passed Bill For Digital Personal Data Protection

The law contains measures to prevent internet platforms from misusing users’ personal information, six years after the Supreme Court recognized the “Right to Privacy” as a fundamental right.

On Monday, despite opposition MPs raising slogans over the Manipur issue, the Lok Sabha unanimously passed the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill by voice vote.

Some of the amendments proposed by the opposition in an attempt to alter the measure were shot down in a voice vote.

The law proposes a penalty of up to Rs. 250 crore on corporations for exploiting or failing to secure people’ Digital Personal Data Protection, with the goal of protecting the privacy of Indian residents.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, minister of information technology for the Union, pushed for the law’s approval, saying, “It would have been excellent had the opposition addressed the issue today (in the House). No one in the opposition cares about people’s rights, however. He said that the law was introduced after substantial public input.

The minister praised the measure for being written in plain English so that even the average citizen could comprehend its key provisions.

Vaishnaw cited the bill’s foundational principles, noting that the concept of legality requires that an individual’s personal information be collected in accordance with existing legislation.

According to him, data should only be utilized for the original reason it was collected.

The minister said that, in light of the concept of data minimization, there was no need to collect any more information than was strictly necessary.

Moreover, he pointed out that there must be a storage limit on private information. The Union minister emphasized that “data should not be kept beyond the point at which it needs to be stored.”

In order to make it simpler for the public to understand, we shall offer notice and consent in all of the 22 languages included in the 8th Schedule.

He stated that if a company makes a mistake, it would go to the Digital Personal Data Protection board, fix the problem, pay the fine, and “move ahead” because of the alternative dispute resolution process that has been set up.

In response to concerns raised by certain members that the measure watered down Digital Personal Data Protection for citizens’ right to access government records, he argued that the opposite was true, saying that RTI and privacy rights had been brought into harmony.

After a short discussion, the measure was ultimately approved.

Automated Regression Testing: All You Need to Know

Organizations across the globe have embraced Agile and DevOps form of software development approaches. According to a Gitlab DevOps survey, around 35 percent of the organizations use DevOps while 31 percent use Agile form of development. Agile and DevOps form of development is all about releasing software updates on a more frequent basis. Whenever an update is rolled out, regression testing needs to be performed. Since the speed of development has made it mandatory to perform regression testing on a weekly, monthly, or daily basis, doing this manually isn’t a viable option.

In this blog, we’ll discuss what regression testing is and how automation can help your organization in achieving digital transformation.

What is Regression testing?

Regression Testing is a form of black box testing that aims to verify if any errors have been introduced into the software after modifications have been made. It involves re-executing previously executed test cases to ensure that the existing functionalities continue to work properly.

Whenever new code changes, business processes, or integrations are introduced, there is a possibility of impacting the existing code. To mitigate potential risks, regression testing is employed. Its purpose is to ensure that the previously developed and tested code remains functional and unaffected by the introduction of new features or code changes.

What is Automated Regression testing?

When regression testing is performed with the help of a test automation tool, it is called automated regression testing. Since regression testing involves re-execution of the test cases to ensure that change in the code hasn’t impacted the existing functionality, automation allows test cases to be run automatically against the software application. The results are compared to find out any discrepancies. With automated testing, organizations can save time and effort compared to manual testing.

Examples of Regression testing

  1. Oracle Cloud Quarterly Updates

Oracle Cloud ERP is a globally recognized suite of enterprise apps. To help its customers manage their business efficiently, Oracle rolls out quarterly updates. These updates come with new features and functionalities. Since these updates have the potential to negatively impact the existing features, regression testing is required before and after the rolling out of the updates

. As Oracle Cloud requires at least 8 rounds of regression testing, doing this manually can be very challenging. Furthermore, Oracle offers 2 weeks of testing window during which organizations can test and report anything unusual. The frequency of testing and short testing window is a real challenge that ERP managers face while maintaining their applications. Thus, automated regression testing is a perfect use-case for Oracle Cloud Apps.

  1. Workday Weekly Service Updates and Biannual Updates

Workday is a globally recognized HCM solution. To improve its performance, Workday offers weekly service updates. Apart from this, Workday also rolls out two major releases in a year. Since Workday has exposed its APIs for custom development, regression testing during every update is mandatory for business continuity. Since manual execution of regression tests is a complicated task, you need to bring in test automation.

Concluding remark

As you’re now aware that manual regression testing is a daunting task, it is recommended that you bring in an automated regression testing tool. Test automation tools can automate repetitive steps, cutting down on testing cycles. This allows QA teams to test regressions within a short span of time.

However, selecting the right testing tool is the key to success. The reason being, in most of the cases, business users perform regression testing. As they are non technical folks, it is recommended that you should opt for no code test automation platform. Some of the available codeless test automation tools include Leapwork, Opkey, and Katalon. However, if your team is good enough in coding and programming, you can also opt for Selenium also.

Indian Government Restricts Import Of Laptop, Computers

The Indian government has implemented a ban on the import of all portable electronic devices like Laptop. The decision was likely made to encourage domestic production of certain goods, although the announcement doesn’t specify why.

Under the current rules, businesses are permitted to import computers and sell them in the nation. The introduction of new models will be slowed by the licensing required for imports.

Laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs, and ultra-compact PCs and servers that fall within HSN 8741 will be considered “Restricted” imports and may only be brought into the country with a valid “License for Restricted Imports.” Examines the letter.

The government has said that it would allow up to 20 such goods per consignment to be imported duty-free for research, testing, evaluation, and repair purposes. It also allows the import of one computer of any kind per person, including one bought from an online store and delivered by mail or courier.

A license for prohibited imports is not necessary for the repair and return of these devices, the ministry said.

The nation’s contract manufacturers will undoubtedly reap the rewards of this change. Dixon Technologies, one of such contract manufacturers, had a gain of 7% in share prices.

Laptops, tablets, and personal computers make up around 1.5% of India’s total yearly imports, according to official statistics. The nation imports a large majority of its desks, computers, and laptops, with China being the primary supplier.

YouTube Is Getting More YouTube Tools For YouTube Shorts To Take On TikTok

YouTube has upgraded a number of features for its YouTube Shorts in an effort to better compete with TikTok. A few examples of these updates include the ability to remix videos side by side, get recommendations for videos to remix, use ‘Shorts’ to respond to comments, add effects, stickers, and playlists, and go live. In addition, YouTube has been developing a new mobile-first vertical live experience to increase artists’ exposure in the platform’s primary video feed.

Collab allows users to film a YouTube Short alongside other videos on YouTube or inside the Shorts platform. It will be accessible through the same Remix menu option, and it will include a side-by-side layout choice for split-screen format.

The firm is including a question and answer label. The comments section is now open for creators to post queries and get feedback. Short videos allow creators to respond to comments.

The YouTube Shorts stream has been updated so that creators who broadcast live may be found more quickly. Previews of the live videos will appear alongside other Shorts content in the feed as user’s browse. They can view the live stream if they press the button. It has already decreased the qualifying conditions to join the YouTube Partner Program. Creators may utilize it to earn money from their streaming videos.

The ability to add YouTube Shorts to YouTube playlists is another feature offered by the corporation.

New Lava Yuva 2 launched In India With 6.5-inch HD+ 90Hz Display

The Lava Yuva 2 Pro is a relatively new smartphone priced under Rs. 10,000 in India. Many competitors have moved upwards, making this a unique entry in a once-crowded market. The Lava Yuva 2 Pro is a great option for anybody looking to make the switch from a feature phone to a smartphone. From the rear, it aspires to replicate the appearance of an iPhone. The back of the Lava Yuva 2 Pro is made of glass, much as the back of the Lava Blaze 5G (Review). The old adage that you shouldn’t judge a book (or a phone) by its cover holds true here.

Is the Lava Yuva 2 Pro the best smartphone you can get for around Rs. 10,000 (about $160) in India? For more information, see our comprehensive review.

Lava Yuva 2 Features and Specs

The Lava Yuva 2 Pro’s glossy glass back is a standout feature, especially given the phone’s affordable pricing. It weighs in at a premium 204g, but its in-hand feel is comparable to the more costly Lava Blaze 5G. The polycarbonate case is streamlined to resemble today’s standard for mobile devices. You can quickly and easily access the power and volume controls by swiping to the right. The bottom has the 3.5mm connection for headphones, the USB Type-C port, and the speaker grille. The top is empty, however there are two slots for Nano SIM cards on the left.

One potential selling point for the Lava Yuva 2 Pro is its design. The design of the camera module seems to have been influenced by the recently released iPhone 14 Pro (Review). However, Lava hardly sticks out at all. Some fingerprints and smudges may be seen on the back panel, however the white model I have with me makes them less noticeable.

The Lava Yuva 2 Pro seems like a cheap phone because of the waterdrop notch at the top of the screen and the wide chin below it. The HD+ resolution on the 6.5-inch IPS LCD display is standard for phones in this price range. The screen is just so-so, both in terms of outside visibility and clarity. However, the volume of the single downward-firing speaker is sufficient to fill a large space.

The Lava Yuva 2 Pro is powered by the brand new octa-core, 2.3GHz MediaTek Hello G37 SoC. It contains a 5000mAh battery and comes with a 10W charger in the package. The phone has GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, and 4G connectivity options. It can recognize your face and fingerprints thanks to a scanner on its side. Using a microSD card, you may add up to 256GB to the device’s storage space.

The Lava Yuva 2 Pro comes preinstalled with the Android 12 operating system. Lava, even at this pricing range, should have given its consumers the most recent version of Android, 13. This phone’s lack of preloaded third-party applications is a definite benefit. Some Lava applications, such Lava Care and Lava Guide, and a third-party app, Doubtnut, are shown in the app drawer.

Other than that, it’s a vanilla Android experience. None of the factory installed applications have sent me any unwanted messages. In addition to the status bar notifications, the Android privacy dashboard feature alerts users when an app is using the phone’s microphone, camera, or location services.

Lava Yuva 2 Price and Availability

In India, the Lava Yuva 2 Pro is available in only one flavor. The phone includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and is priced at Rs. 7,999. Glass White, Glass Green, and Glass Lavender are the three color options for this gadget.
