Lenovo India has launched a new smartphone in his K series today, the Lenovo K8 Plus. The smartphone is a new competition in the budget oriented smartphone especially category for dual camera smartphones. The device is an all-metal unibody design, which comes two colour variants, Dark Grey and Gold. The device will be exclusively available on Flipkart.com for just about 10,999 INR, starting from 6th December 2016, 12 noon.
The K8 Plus is packing a 2.6 GHz MediaTek MT6757 Helio X25 processor. The device supports 3GB RAM/ 32GB Storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via a dedicated SD-card slot. These day we have so many devices in the market and each of them are doing something new and crazy to make its value in the market. We have seen Coolpad always coming up with something new and crazy. They launched cheapest device with 3 sims, they launched cheapest device with metal body, they launched cheapest device with Dual camera and now they are back with cheapest device with 6GB Ram. Now coming to the design part of the phone which is inspired from its predecessor Coolpad cool 1 still, when we come to the specs and other part this one is way better from the older one.
Starting from the front part, at the top, it houses an 8-megapixel Camera and beside it some of the sensors and earpiece and multi color LED notification.
Coming little bit down here we get a 5.5″ FHD Display which seems to be quite good and perfect which we can get in any Budget device.
Below the display we get back capacitive keys, which do light up in the night and also give you haptic feedback while you use them. So you need not worry about using the phone in the dark.
Coming to the down portion of the phone you will get Dual Speaker grills out of which only right one is having actual speaker whereas the left grill has the Primary MIC in it. Between those grills houses a USB Type-C port which also support Quick charging facility and USB OTG support.
On the Top portion of the phone houses a 3.5mm audio jack which is again a positive point for the users. Nothing else which we need to explain over here.
Now, finally coming to the sides of the phones on the left side you will get a SIM Tray which only supports Dual nano SIM’s and no Micro SD card. This thing can be bad for some the buyers.
Turning around you will get volume rockers and power lock key which gives quite good tactile feel while you press them. There is no pattern feel on buttons, but still, they feel quite premium and made up of metal only.
Turning around to the back side of the phone, here comes the Dual 13-megapixel camera. Beside it houses a Dual tone LED Flash and a Secondary Noise cancellation MIC.
Below that you will get a Fingerprint sensor which works pretty well and I have no complaints regarding it and a little bit down you will get Coolpad Branding. The whole device is made up of metal and no plastic is being used.
Display
Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes up with a 5.5-inch FHD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and pixel density of 401ppi. The colors are vibrant and vivid. Color and white balance feel perfect and makes it a pleasant display to use. There are also 4 color profiles that you can choose as per your taste.
The Sunlight legibility in Cool Play 6 is not very bad and not very good. In too much sunlight it being very difficult to use the device perfectly. Auto-brightness works perfectly. Viewing Angle are good and while watching movies or playing games from odd angle won’t affect you in any way.
Performance
Coolpad Cool 1 Play 6 is powered by the Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 653 and is supported with a massive 6 GB RAM. The price in which the phone is being offered is something amazing. The performance of the phone is quite well and you can almost run any kind high end game or multi task on it with no lag and sluggishness.
There are some of the normal software bugs which can be fixed with next few updates. While playing some of the high end games like GTA San Andreas, Riptide i won’t find any lag or frame drops but while playing Asphalt 8 at very high end setting it won’t give me any issue. While gaming on Cool Play 6 for more than 20 to 25 minutes it heats up a lot. The temperature which i noted was 43 degree that too in Delhi Temperature. Now you can imagine the heat which it produces.
Cool Play 6 from coolpad also have almost all the sensor which a consumer can demand like Gyroscope and many other.
Over all, you can do intense multitasking on Coolpad Cool Play 6, and you won’t be facing any lag in daily use.
Camera
The Dual Camera at the rear is one of the another highlighted feature of the phone. The phone comes with Dual 13-megapixel Camera at its rear. If you are waiting for a phone which is having Dual Camera’s with high end specs with 6 GB RAM that too in budget than this device is meant for you.
When we click an image the data is gathered from both the camera sensors and merge it to get the best shot with some great color and bokeh in it. I have attached many camera samples taken from the dual back camera as well as taken from the 8-megapixel front facing camera.
The best part of the camera is SLR mode where you can get some really great shots which seem to be like taken from a DSLR. Using this mode, you will get some extra focus effect. Rest you can always use any third party camera app to get professional video shots using some home made gears.
This phone can record video to up to 4k from rear and from front it can record to up to 1080p.

Coolpad Cool Play 6 it is loaded with Android Marshmallow 7.1.1 with a skin of there new UI which is Journey UI. The Ui works well and is well optimized with the RAM which is offered to us. Still i would say need more improvement as still there are some of the minor bugs which can be fixed in later OTA updates.
Overall the UI experience is quite good, and with 6 GB ram, it works perfectly. We get different modes, different themes and many other option which can be used as per our usage and demand.
Battery
Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes up with a 4000 mAh battery which gives you some excellent backup so far. We have been running the device with 2 SIM’s and 4G was continuously on with JIO and even after that there were 4 email ID’s which were syncing on a regular basis, different apps and take my words very heavy usage. Even after that more than 30% juice was left till the end of the day. The only drawback was that even after Cool Play 6 is some minor bugs in the UI.
Recently i got a OTA update which fixed most of the bugs but still more research and testing is need on UI.
Verdict
Overall, for the users who don’t have enough budget and want a device with good camera and 6 GB massive RAM then this device is for you.
