Epic Games store delightfully offers free games, titled as “mystery games”. These games can be downloaded by interested users, and they can keep these free games forever. This time it offered Grand Theft Auto V as the free game, and obviously, a large number of people visited the online store website as well as the launcher app to get the game.

This chaos and high demand caused heavy traffic on Epic’s servers, which led to slowdowns, errors, and the Epic Games Launcher crashing. There is no doubt regarding the popularity of GTA V, and even though it is 7 years old, the number of users still wanting to download the game comes as no surprise.

The Corona Virus sensor device is a wireless sensor patch in the shape of Band-Aid that can detect the nature, duration, and time of coughs, hence it is a capable device for checking the onset and progression of COVID-19.

The device can be used where your throat and chest meet, picking up coughing and breathing problems associated with COVID-19. This Corona Virus sensor device was developed in Chicago by Northwestern University and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, and it claims to monitor early signs of Corona Virus infection. The device is easy to disinfect as it does not have any external ports for power or connectivity.

How does the Coronavirus Sensor Patch work?

The sensor is meant to be stickered below the epiglottis. It’s an external sensor, so it sits on the chest below the neck. The device detects early COVID-19’s symptoms, i.e. Coughing and Breathing problems. This Band-Aid like patch sensor is also capable of detecting heart rate and body temperature. The patch needs to be removed from the body, once a day and it must be placed on a wireless charger which prompts the patch to sync its stored data with a nearby iPad. The data is then uploaded to a HIPAA-compliant cloud where a digital filtering AI algorithm examines it for anomalies related to COVID-19.

Before the announcement, the device was used on 25 test subjects for two weeks. The device generated nearly 1,500 hours of history and one terabyte of data.

The sensor lacks a blood oxygen perfusion sensor. However, Professor John Rogers, director of Northwestern University’s Center on Bio-Integrated Electronics, suggested that patch with oxygen perfusion sensor is coming shortly.

Currently, a lab at Northwestern’s Chicago campus is designing dozens of new patches a week, and they are capable of developing 100’s of devices a week before the Corona Virus sensor patch is available for the volume manufacturing via license.
