The film does not show sex workers as lesser humans, as you may find such a portrayal in many Bollywood and Hollywood movies.

Tikli and Laxmi Bomb shows us the positive sides, it shows us what they go through and their determination to not be exploited by the system. We are not told what made these women take up the sex work, what we are indeed shown is that they all have faced exploitation and are now ready to claim their rights. The movie is a compelling one, it talks about the essence of sisterhood. There is a unique feminist perspective that we come across on the issues relating to the sex trade and sex trafficking. It is a very thought-provoking movie and a must-watch.

My Thoughts

Even though all the movies on this list are unique and worth watching, my most favourite and a must-watch would be Soni (2018). It addresses contemporary issues. In the modern world, where movements like feminism are on the rise, women are claiming their rights and challenging patriarchy and patriarchal mindsets, the movie shows us how there is still a long way to go.

Even women in positions of power with high merit and achievements are still subjected to sexism, and their potential is continuously undermined by society.
